I have a huge fear of Sharks but I love to watch Shark week on the Discovery Channel...tomorrow they are airing "Anatomy of a Shark Bite" which is gonna have some pretty gruesome footage I guess. Should be pretty cool. 9pm pac. They makeit sound like they got a shark attack on film..I cant wait. Oh by the way..The Shark is the most popular fish amongst the "Trash" of the world.

Every time I go into the water at the beach, I cannot get out of my head that a shark is going to swim up beneath me!

I read somewhere recently that the odds on getting bit by a shark are 180 million to 1 for the average human.

altough retired right now there was a time back in the day that I used to surf every day.

It was some years ago when me and some other beach bums of course went to an isolated beach break. We had to walk 15 min with our boards to get to the spot. Then it's a rocky climb down to get to the break. Clear blue water and we were having a blast for about 45 mins before I saw this grey shadow along the reefs comming my way.
I froze and just kept looking at the damn thing till I saw it's fins and head clearly then I yelled shark and we all bailed like a bunh of pussies. This shark was about 6foot and scared the shit out of me and my beach bum surfer buddies.

That was the only time in my life that I got scared and actually worried about a shark while surfing.

Wil, I believe the risk is much higher here in Florida. Every year there's 2~3 stories of attacks, and the attacks are getting more and more common close to shore!

Hache,

The thing with the sharks in FL is that they are nurse sharks and due to the fact that the water ain't that clear people tend to step on them bad boys and then they bite.

I almost stepped on 2 of then beauties that were swimming side by side once while entering the sea in Florida, Daytona to be exact

if you've seen the adds discovery channel is running they are stupid.
they say you have a 1 in 80,000,000 chance of bitten by a shark. what are the chances it happens on film.

that is bullshit. shows how people can make stats say what ever they say.

i you live in ohio and never leave then you have no chance. if you live in florida then there is a chance. if you stand in a ****ing shark tank the odds are pretty ****ing good

I have no idea how many hours I have been in the ocean, I have surfed as much as 10 hrs. in a day for weeks at a time and never a sniff by a shark. If they want me they could take a hunk out of me or any other surfer ant time they want. They don't like humans and there is plenty of other food for them to eat. I don't even think about being a shark snack, mostly cause there is not a damn thing I could do about it and I will never stop surfing.
