If the proposed deal goes down between the Heat and the Lakers, who do you guys think got the best of the deal? Do you think Miami gave up too much if they indeed have to give up Odom, grant, and Butler? Personally, I think the Heat are giving up WAY too much if they have to include Butler in the deal. Let me know what you guys think!

Miami got the best deal, but the Pacers got the man they need and are close to getting Derick Fisher, Jackson will put the Pacers over the hump.

tomone,
Why do you think that the Heat got the better of the deal? Do you think that the Heat becomes contenders with just Shaq, Wade, and Jones? They are basically a 3 man team now with no starters at the 3 or 4 spot and absolutely no depth off the bench. I beleive that they gave up too much young talent in giving up both Odom and Butler. I do agree with you that Indiana picked up a good player in Jackson. He can be a little selfish at times, but played real well while on San Antonio. If the Pacers were to get Fisher, they would look real good going into next year. Where would you rank the Heat in the East going into next year?

IfLA could winwith just Shaq and KOBIE AND role players can Miami win with Wade,SHAQ and role players in the east i think they have a shot, if the Lakers do not resign Kobie then the Heat got the best deal. The deal is can Shaq stay healthy.

IMO the Lakers got the best of this deal; however if Kobe plays for the Clips next year than the Lakers are in trouble anyway.

Deal reported today was Shaq to MIA in exchange for Caron Butler, Lamar Odom, Brian Grant and a first-round draft pick. Damn!

Don't get me wrong, Shaq (an 11 time all star) is literally a force, and should put up big numbers in the east. However hes had injuries the past 2 years and frankly I dont think hes nearly as motivated to win a title as he was earlier in his career. Sure maybe he wants to win one w/o Kobe just to be like **** Kobe I dont need him; but IMO Shaq has more interest in South Beach than another ring.

Odom is young and productive. Hes been a minimum 13pts/6reb/3ast guy since the beginning and personally I really like his game. He really impressed me vs. the Pacers this past year.

Butler's only had 2 years in the association with career avg's at 12/5/2. I liked him at Uconn and hes been good so far and has the potential for even more.

While Grant is prolly seen as the least important piece here he is still a solid player and a big body to help replace Big Daddy.

Throw in a 1st round pick and the Heat gave up too much. And its not hard to see Miami's plan... build around the nucleus of a good PG, a proven scorer at the 2, and Shaq in the middle. But while I like Wade, arguably he and Eddie Jones still dont bring the same game to the table as Kobe. I say arguably b/c I'm sure Kobe detractors would rather have Wade and Jones but I dont know. And Jones to me seems like the kinda guy who wants to be the go to guy (he led the Heat in FGA's last year) and now with Shaq here and the offense likely revolving around him, Jones' numbers and overall effectiveness drop IMO.

Dallas.

For not falling for the place Shaq really wanted to go to (and disbanding the better-than-Heat) nucleus.
