Blair Walsh is gone, but the same old problems remain for the Minnesota Vikings.
New Vikings kicker Kai Forbath had his second extra point attempt blocked during Sunday's crucial home matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. The failure to convert kept Arizona within three points of Minnesota in the second quarter.
Walsh was cut by the Vikings last week after missing his fourth extra point of the season in last Sunday's loss to the Redskins.
The Vikings aren't the only team struggling to convert the PAT on Sunday. We saw seven -- seven! -- missed extra points before any of the early Sunday games went to halftime. Mike Nugent has missed both his PAT attempts in Cincinnati today.
Last year, the NFL sought to make the extra point a more meaningful play when it pushed the spot of the ball to the 15-yard line. What used to be a 17-yard gimme is now a 32-yard attempt. As a result, we're seeing more misses than ever.

Place-kickers set NFL record in missed extra points for one week.

NFL place-kickers have failed on 11 extra point attempts Sunday, breaking an NFL record and continuing a midseason spike that has highlighted the league's efforts to make the kick more difficult.The unsuccessful attempts bring the league's two-week total to 17 and counting. Place-kickers failed on six in Week 10.
The previous record for one week of play was 10, set most recently in 1985, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
The NFL moved the kick from the 2-yard line to the 15 at the start of the 2015 season. The move has resulted in pockets of magnified intensity: There were eight misses in two separate weeks of last season.
Overall, however, the rule change has caused a drop in about 5 percentage points on the NFL conversion rate. It has also prompted teams to go for two points at about double the rate as before the change, and teams have also been incentivized to seek new strategies for blocking them and -- in three cases -- returning them for two-points conversions.
Despite the chaotic start to Sunday's kicks, the 2016 season has progressed almost exactly as 2015. Entering Sunday's games, the conversion rate was 94.8 percent. The rate was also 94.8 after 10 weeks of the 2015 season.

They should've tried moving it back exactly 5 yards to the 7 yard line first. Or even the 10 yard line. But no, they had to go all the way back to the 15.
　
I think people will start to feel differently when a big playoff game is decided by a missed XP late in the game.
　
Example. Team goes on a 90 yard drive to tie the game with seconds left. It will be the first ever Super Bowl that goes to overtime. NOPE, missed XP. Game over.
　
It's called manufactured drama. The NFL is trying to create drama where there doesn't need to be.

Once again, the current rate is 95% -- the previous rate was 99%.

What would you be happy with? 97 percent, 98 percent?
