San Diego Padres (43-70) at New York Mets (59-53)
(R) Cha Seung Baek (3-6, 5.22) vs. (R) Pedro Martinez (3-2, 6.16 ERA)
San Diego Padres have had difficulties at Shea Stadium, dropping eight of the last ten games in the Big Apple and will have a bigger task with New York's Pedro Martinez on the hill. The right-hander has won six of his last seven decisions against the Padres and is 10-3 with a 3.18 ERA in 24 career appearances, including 17 starts against them. Go with the Mets at home. New York has won 12 of their last 14 home games, including Tuesday's 6-5 opener against San Diego.

VEGAS EXPERTS

Wednesday, August 6th, 7:05 PM ET

We were off on last night's call on the Phillies as Jamie Moyer lost for the first time in 11 tries against the Marlins. Yet, we come back with Philly tonight as one of their biggest money earners, Kyle Kendrick, toes the rubber. In night starts this season, the Phills have won 15 of Kendrick's 19 starts. Florida's Anibal Sanchez has gotten rocked here twice, posting a 10.31 ERA in the City of Brotherly Love.

BASEBALL LOCKS FOR WEDNESDAY

Milwaukee -120 over Cincy--The Brewers have to get out of this slump sometime-why not here with Suppan over Bailey ?

ChiSox -105 over Detroit--I like Danks on the South Side over Verlander. Danks ERA is 3.31 and Verlander's allowing around 5 runs per game

Houston +170 and Backe at Wrigley over the Cubs and Marquis--I like Backe and he can hit too

ROYALS +115 over Boston--I say the Royals give Wakefield problems and Hochevar pulls one off

RANDY JOHNSON -250 and D'Backs over Karstens and the Pirates in the desert

New York -120 and Ponson goes back to Texas and beats his old club

Lincecum -180 and the Giants over the Braves again in the Bay--Atlanta's season is toast

JEFF BONDS

SAN FRANCISCO R/L +120

* The Giants have won all six of Tim Lincecum's career starts after he's struck out 10 or more batters in his previous start.

* Atlanta SP Chuck James has been absolutely horrific on the road this season - posting an 0-3 record and 11.08 ERA in three starts. He's allowed 51 batters to reach base in just 25 2/3 innings. He's also allowed a home run in al six of his starts this season, which may be enough in this game.

* Lincecum is a stellar 5-1 with a 3.05 ERA in 10 daytime starts this season.

* The home team is 22-7 in home plate umpire Derryl Cousins' last 29 games - including a 9-3 win with Lincecum over James last year.
