Chicago @ N.Y. RANGERS
N.Y. RANGERS –½ +122 over Chicago
Regulation only. The Blackhawks have played 69 games this year and have been a dog just an incredible four times in those 69 games. On the money line Chicago is taking back +140, which is the most they’ve been offered this year. When the books are offering this much on a team like Chicago, it’s the perfect time to step in against them because nobody wants to lay -150 or more to defeat them. The three other games the Blackhawks were a dog in came against Los Angeles very early in the year, in San Jose, in St. Louis and finally in Tampa Bay. Chicago defeated L.A., they lost in San Jose and they defeated St. Louis. The game against the Bolts is the one we’re focusing in on because it’s very similar to this one. In that game, Chicago was taking back just about the exact same price as this one and they lost 4-0. The books were giving us the winner that day and while we missed it then, we’re not going to miss it here. The line dictates the play and that line screams Rangers.
The Rangers have allowed one goal or less in six of their past seven games. In the other game over that span they allowed two goals. Five of those seven games were on the road. Over their last 18 games, the Rangers have picked up points in 17 of them with only regulation loss over that span occurring in Philadelphia. After returning home from a five game trip, the Rangers were a bit flat when they hosted the Panthers but still managed to squeeze out a 2-1 victory. This is the second game back after said trip and they’ve had two full days off. Since 2013, the Blackhawks have played here just one time. This is one of the hottest tickets of the season and it figures to be an extremely energized crowd with a real playoff-like atmosphere. The Rangers are very aware that they’re a legit Cup contender and these are the types of games that send a message to the rest of the league that’s it not just talk. New York is poised to play one of its best games of the season here and while we’re not interested in spotting -150 (or thereabouts), we’re very confident that New York will win this one in regulation because that’s exactly what the betting line is telling us.
