When they get in a rut and begin to pile up the losses, they seem to struggle mentally. They had five streaks last year winning five or more games, but they also had losing streaks of seven, seven and 12 games. They are looking similar here this year as they won six in a row, and have now hit the rut losing four straight. The Royals have pitched well along with Bannister, but he is still a career 4.61 ERA pitcher with a team that is in a rut right now. The Royals seem to feel the pressure against the poor teams on the road as they have been 22-51 on the road in their last 73 vs a team with a losing record. Royals floundering and Oakland gets the call.
