quick question,

I used thegreek.com in the past, years ago and they were really good, I saw some people on here yesterday saying that they still use them. How are they now with all the new regulation and legislation? thanks

Game: Milwaukee at Cincinnati (7:10 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Cincinnati -123 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.4)

Edinson Volquez has had a breakout season for the Reds and has not allowed more than three runs in a game but three times on the season covering 23 starts. He is 13-4 with a 2.71 ERA, and in Cy Young contention for a team that hasn't been very effective this season, but have been pretty good at home at 31-25. Dave Bush has been the weakest link on the Brewers’ staff this season and the road has really been an issue. The Brewers are just 1-8 in his nine road starts and getting pounded by a total of 55-27. The opponents have scored at least six runs in eight of the nine starts. Since Volquez hasn't given up six in a game all season, we have to like the Reds here.

Game: Los Angeles Dodgers at St. Louis (8:15 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on St. Louis -106 (moneyline) (risk 4 to win 3.8)

One thing is for sure and that is you'd never get Chris Carpenter and the Cards at home for basically even money before his Tommy John surgery last April. The fact that Carpenter threw 67 pitches and allowed just one run over four innings, and had no setbacks says this guy is ready to be himself again and soon. The Cards are 27-10 over his last 37 home starts and we'll take the odds makers hedge that he isn't Chris Carpenter yet, and say that he is. St. Louis has been a difficult stop for Los Angeles over the past three years as they have gone just 2-7 here and have been outscored in the process 59-17 or by almost five runs a game. We will back the Cards in the opener at home.

Game: Pittsburgh at Arizona (9:40 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 units on Pittsburgh +244 (moneyline) (risk 2 to win 4.9)

Sometimes you have to look at the odds on a game and make a decision if the value pendulum has swung to the extreme enough to push the value in line of the huge underdog. We have an opportunity here to back such a situation. Brandon Webb has been a top pitcher for several years, but the home record of teams in his starts has been just 34-21 for 61.8% over the last four years, while it would take 71% in this price range to breakeven. This is a classic letdown situation for the D-Backs. They are fat and happy right now - maybe overconfident. They have Webb on the mound (coming off four straight wins), they have their lead over the Dodgers in the division, they are facing a struggling pitcher, and they are coming off a comfortable 13-7 win in game one. How can they not let down here? Pittsburgh has the offense to stay in this one, especially if Arizona bats take the day off. Webb, as good as he has been is actually just 9-28 in post All-Star play vs. teams that score 4.8+ runs per game. We will give the Pirates a go here, as the odds are longer than their true value by a fairly significant margin

BOS -1.5 (-110) vs KAN 2-Units

For KC, Soria and Tejeda are now unavailable, and Mahay is currently running a gaudy 16.20 ERA over his last three games. That means that KC's bullpen is missing its ACE closer, and their ACE set-up man is crapping out.

The remaining options are not going to stop a late inning run by the Red Sox.

Nunez, Peralta, The Ramirez boys, And Mahay are all sitting above 4.50 on their ERA's over the last three appearances, and that simply won't hold a lead, or allow the Royals to catch up.

THE BACK DOOR IS WIDE OPEN.

For Boston, Okajima, Papelbon, Lopez, and Delcarmen are looking STELLAR over the last few starts. Something has changed! They can hold our lead, or let us catch a two run win.

On a Run Line wager you MUST make sure of two things!

1. The enemy pen must be in dissaray.

2. Your pen must be in optimal condition.

We have that!

As far as the Starters?????

Beckett is being underrated due to a string of shaky games, but the public doesn't see the fact that he had to face the Yankees and the Angels TWICE in 4 of his last 5 starts!

That's 207 pitches to Angels Bats.

That's 212 pitches to Yankee Bats.

That would kill anyone's splits!!!!!

Before that stretch, he faced Houston Cincy, and Arizona and allowed only 4 earned runs over 22 innings.

I think we can expect Beckett to get back on track, as the Royals are more like Houston, Cincy, and Zona, and they also haven't seen Beckett this year.

He has a 19/3 K/BB Ratio against KC batters. In 82 at bats there were 7 runs scored. Royals batters have never hit a Home Run or a Triple against Josh.

I will ride that set-up anyday!

Minnesota Twins @ Seattle Mariners

Last night the Twins lost to the Mariners 10-6 in a Game played at Safe Co Field. Blame it on the Jet Lag.( maybe ) Tonight the Twins will be ready with SCOTT BAKER ( 7-3 3.53 ) when he takes the mound against R.A.Dickey ( 2-6 5.56 ) who will start for the Mariners. In two appearances against the Twins Dickey is 0-2 with an ERA of 12.26.That ERA is enough to jump on the Twins tonight. Minnesota still leads the American League Central Division over the White Sox.

Take the Minnesota Twins

Cincinnati (Volquez -$120) against Milwaukee (Bush).
The Brewers are busy fighting each other and Volquez is busy putting together a great season. He is 13-4 with a 2.71 Era on a team that is in last place. Bush is 5-9 with a 4.69 and is 1-3 versus the Reds lifetime, allowing 36 earned in 38 2/3 innings.

St Louis (Carpenter -$110) against LA Dodgers (Billingsley).
Carpenter just went four innings in his first start, but he is 3-0 versus the Dodgers lifetime. Billingsley has been sharp and they have Manny now, but we like the home team to take advantage of the Milwaukee fall to regain the Wild Card.

Minnesota (Baker -$125) against Seattle (Dickey).
The Twins are 11-6 when Baker starts and he is 7-3 with a 3.53 Era on the season. The M's are 3-7 when Dickey starts and he is 1-2 with a 6.63 Era over his last three. He also has allowed 10 earned in 10 2/3 innings lifetime versus the Twins.

Minnesota @ Seattle 10:10 pm
Baker vs Dickey (LP)

PLAY ON MINNESOTA -125

The price is right here, as we find a tale of contrasting pitching forms. Baker has been exceptional this year for the Twins, a solid 3.79 era in his last 3 starts.
Dickey on the other hand 6.63 era last 3 starts and a whopping 7.60 era at home, the Twins should be able to get to him early and often. We also take note the Twins are a perfect 5-0 as road chalk in the -100 to -150 range.

Florida Marlins (59-53) at Philadelphia Phillies (61-50)
(R) Josh Johnson (1-0) vs. (L) Jamie Moyer (10-6)
Philadelphia Phillies have won four of the last five games against the Florida Marlins in Philly and will start lefty Jamie Moyer, who has been very successful against the Marlins. Moyer is 10-0 with a 3.03 ERA in 10 career starts versus the Marlins. Look for the veteran to stay unbeaten versus the Marlins.

Go with the Phillies! Philadelphia is 7-1 in their last 8 games, 7-1 in its last 8 at Citizens Bank Park and has won Jamie Moyer's last 10 starts against the Marlins, including the last 5 at home.

Philadelphia Phillies -145
