Fresh off a Saturday sweep in which we nailed the M's and White Sox, the month of August started off on the plus side. I circled only one game on today's card and it just so happens to be nationally televised ESPN Sunday Night Baseball.

20 dime - Braves

Detroit Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski is one of the best in baseball at what he does. I always give credit where it's rightfully due and Dombrowski has made some great deals throughout his courtship with Detroit. However, he was absolutely fleeced on October 29, 2007 when he traded star-in-the-making Jair Jurrjens to Atlanta for (chuckle) Edgar Renteria. Jurrjens has flown completely under the radar and transformed into one of the elite pitchers in all of baseball. Don't let his record (9-7, 2.61) fool you, Jair can flat out deal. He mixes his pitches better than most, his stuff is downright nasty and he's better with every single start he makes.

Let's take a look at the numbers... Jurrjens is 5-4 with a 2.51 ERA and 1.17 WHIP at Turner Field this season. His last four starts, he's 3-0 with a 1.75 ERA and a jaw-dropping 0.81 WHIP. And in two career starts against the Dodgers, the Curacaon is 2-0 with a 1.30 ERA and 1.07 WHIP. Love his chances tonight against L.A. especially given such a low line. Dodgers' starter Chad Billingsley has fallen into a major rut since winning his ninth game on June 14. The highly touted right-hander has won only once his last eight starts and he's posted a 6.46 ERA over that span.

Alanta is reeling right now having won 7 of 10 home games since the All-Star break. They are getting timely hitting, enough so that Jurrjens and Javier Vazquez (two of the best ERA possessors in baseball) have been able to add 'W's to their record. The Tomahawks have won 5 of 6 against the Dodgers and 6 of 8 in the confines of Turner Field. Play the Braves as your Sunday Night Baseball winner.

Braves fleeced Detroit for one John Smoltz too! Keep bringing them in Tigers so that we can import them down here!

I am backing the Phillies as my Sunday 500* Syndicate. The Phillies look to split the 4 game series against the Giants with a win this afternoon. Let’s start off by noting that the Phillies are a Perfect 3-0 this season in the 4th game of a 4 game series! The Phillies certainly do not want to drop 3 out of 4 games to the Giants making this a “Must” win spot for the NL East Leaders. The Phillies could not ask for a better pitcher in today’s game then the Red Hot Cole Hamels. The Phillies have grabbed the chips in Hamels last 5 starts coming into play today! It’s important to mention that the Phillies are a perfect 4-0 in Hamels 4 career starts against the Giants! Even though the Phillies are on the Road they still remain $160 favorites. The main reason for that is the fact that the Phillies are 27-11 in Hamels' last 38 starts as a road favorite & they are also 24-8 in Hamels' last 32 starts as a favorite of -151 to -200. It is important to mention that the Giants are only 7-17 in Zito’s last 24 starts as a home underdog. The Giants are 36- 16 ~ +$1773 at home this season they are just 2-5 in their last 7 games as a home underdog of +151 to +200. Did I mention that the Phillies are baseball best road team with a record of 32-18 +$1630 on the Highway this season? Want More? The Phillies have won 20 of their last 26 games coming into play today & remain red hot despite the losing 2 of the last 3 to San Francisco. I must mention again that Philadelphia does not want to lose 3 of 4 to the Giants & they get the Ace Cole Hamels in great form! Just how good is Hamels? The Phillies are 57-26 in Hamels' last 83 starts as a favorite. 500* SYNDICATE - PHILLIES

Mr Unlucky,

Ness hits Legend plays and 25's in foots more than anything.

His bio says MLB his is fav sport to cap, but when you pick -150 faves everyday and public dogs, it's not hard to think your plays look good.

He's got a winning "record" in MLB, but definitely down units.

Looks like LilLefty of St Bernadine Sports and Street Rosenthal are going down in flames after a great run. You guys can blame me since I played them today 100% (hence the name which should be "Mr. Jinx").

Thank you for your Purchase

Street Rosenthal of HandicappingTrends

*300 San Diego -119

The Padres look prime to get the Win today and I have found the Trends that say they will. First, I have the Padres as 24-9 SU since 2004 as a home favorite when they won by one run in their starters last start. I also have the Padres as 14-4 SU since 2007 at home vs a team that has lost at least their last two games and it is not the first game of a series. Finally, I have the Brewers as 8-22 SU since 2004 season on the road within 20 cents of pickem after a loss in which they had 6 or fewer hits. Take the Padres for the Win.

Good Luck!!

This guy is looking at an 0-fer. That's pretty bad.

^<<^

Also way too many on Braves tonight. Better fade.
