3* GOM
Vanderbilt 7.0 (-110) Pinnacle vs 399 Texas A&M. Esslers 3 star gom

Analysis: Sorry if it's hard to swallow. For some the Redskins were yesterday. Barring the unforeseen, this should be the best number - . Let's look at how we could POSSIBLY fade the Aggies. This is only their third road game this SEASON - and in the previous two they beat a struggling Arkansas (at the TIME) team, then they lost at Ole Miss, scoring just three points. I honestly don't think they've recovered from the Alabama beat down. They allowed 28 points to South Carolina, at home, and nobody lets the Gamecocks score that many. They then only scored TEN at HOME against Auburn. Serious quarterback issues. Kyler Murray is listed as questionable following the concussion. I almost hope he does play - he threw two picks against Western Carolina and three the game before against Auburn. Five TD passes toá seven picks on the season. If Allen plays, he was 12-34 at Ole Miss and threw three picks against Alabama. He's a better option, IMO, but has padded HIS stats against non-conference teams with 10 TD's to 2 picks. Against SEC teams, there's a staggering decline. So, who are the Aggies to be laying a touchdown on the road. Vanderbilt finally put Freshman Kyle Shurmer under center against Kentucky. He wasn't "great" against Missouri, but the Tigers have an actual defense. He was horrid at Houston, but that's expected as a Freshman on the road. He's got a great understanding of the game (from what I have seen) and as a pro-style QB, he had offers from Illinois, Pitt, Temple, and Cincinnati, so he was not an unheralded QB. I do like Derek Mason and think he's still got the team headed forward. He spent several years in Stanford (coaching defense - and Vandy's defense is actually very good) - so he brings a measure of both winning and respect. Vandy's defense allowed 9 points to the Gators in Florida, and honestly made them (Florida) look pretty bad. Looking at the 'Dores defense, they held UGA to 31 early in the year when UGA was good. They only let Ole Miss get 27 on the road. Their only lopsided loss this season was that Houston game. They've only not covered the -46 against A-Peay (they did win by 40), +2 to South Carolina (who they held to 19 points), and then the Houston game. This is their last home game of the season - so effort/motivation should be there. To me, this is a lot like a Bowl game in that it's who's got the motivation to play - and I don't think the Aggies do. Disappointing season with LSU on the road next week, and they APPEAR to have lost some focus, and that's in part a knock on Sumlin, who's taking it on the chin at times this season. His luster MAY have worn off. Either way, a 'Dores win here would not surprise ME - and given their defense and the Aggies lack of one at times, this should be a last possession game.
