Don't look now but the Texas Tech Red Raiders are off to a 5-0 start on the season. This is a team that has had a long history of offense, but the Red Raiders are doing it on defense this year, allowing a stingy 13.8 points per game. The offense certainly has not taken a back seat either as they are ranked #13 in the country, producing 520 yards per contest and 41.8 ppg. Iowa State is simply ill equipped to hang in this game as they rank #67 offensively at a pedestrian 27 ppg allowed. The Cyclones are also in a tough mental spot having lost at home last week to Texas 31-30 as the Longhorns scored a TD with inside of a minute to play. The Red Raiders have been a momentum-based team that is now 6-0 ATS in their last six when following a 20+ point win in their last contest. The Hawkeyes are 11-26 ATS in their last 37 road games vs. top-level teams (teams at .750 or better). Play on Texas Tech.

NCAA-F | Oct 12 '13 (12:00p) Missouri vs Georgia	Missouri +7½-108 at 5Dimes
15* Missouri/Georgia ESPN Early ANNIHILATOR on Missouri +7.5 The Missouri Tigers are the real deal in 2013. While they haven’t faced the toughest of schedules, they have taken care of business in blowout fashion. All five of their wins have come by 15 points or more. They have impressive road wins over both Indiana (45-28) and Vanderbilt (51-28) in games that were never in doubt. After being plagued by injuries all of last season, the Tigers are finally healthy in 2013, especially at the quarterback position. James Franklin leads a Missouri offense that is putting up 46.6 points and 543.8 yards per game to rank 7th in the country in total offense. Franklin is completing 67.7 percent of his passes for 1,406 yards with 13 touchdowns and three interceptions, while also rushing for 278 yards and two scores. The offense has overshadowed a defense that is also improved this season, giving up just 22.4 points per game. This offense will be up against a Georgia defense that is allowing 32.2 points and 403.8 total yards per game. Georgia has been hit by injuries harder than just about any other team in the country to this point. Aaron Murray was already without his leading returning receiver in Malcolm Mitchell (knee) for the entire season. Now, he’s without two of his top three receivers thus far this season in Justin Scott-Wesley (16 receptions, 311 yards, two TD) and Michael Bennett (14, 176, 2 TD), who each went out with injuries against Tennessee last week. Also, leading rusher Todd Gurley (450 yards, 4 TD) is doubtful to play Saturday, while second-leading rusher Keith Marshall (246 yards, 1 TD) has been lost for the season to a knee injury. Both backs went out against Tennessee. This offense is simply decimated right now. Georgia should not be getting this much respect from oddsmakers because Murray no longer has the same weapons that he has been using for much of the season. He's a great quarterback, but without his best skill players, he will struggle against this improved Missouri defense. Plays on a road team (MISSOURI) – after three straight wins by 17 or more points against opponent after a playing a game where 60 total points or more were scored are 26-3 (89.7%) ATS over the last five seasons. Georgia is 3-16 against the spread in its last 19 home games versus a team with a winning percentage of greater than 75%. The Bulldogs are 16-32 against the number in their last 48 home games off a win against a conference rival. Take Missouri Saturday.

NCAA-F | Oct 12 '13 (12:00p) Nebraska vs Purdue	Purdue +14½-110 at bodog
15* Big Ten Saturday PLAY OF THE DAY on Purdue +14.5 Purdue’s 24-55 home loss to Northern Illinois last week was one of the most misleading final scores of the entire 2013 season. When you consider that the Boilermakers outgained the Huskies 524-402 for the game, the score should have been the other way around. However, Purdue turned the fall over five times to give the game away. This team has to come in with a lot of confidence this week with how well they were able to move the football on a very good Northern Illinois team. Plus, the Boilermakers are coming off a bye week, meaning that they have had two weeks to prepare and correct their mistakes. Danny Etling will get the start in this one after replacing Rob Henry against NIU. Etling went on to throw for 241 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions in the loss. Purdue gave up a pick-6 and a kickoff return touchdown against the Huskies, which were obviously two gift scores as well. Off such a misleading final score, I believe the Boilermakers are undervalued heading into this showdown with Nebraska. After amassing 524 total yards against Northern Illinois, Purdue has to like its chances of being able to move the football and score points against a suspect Nebraska defense. The Cornhuskers gave up a combined 115 points in losses to Wisconsin and Georgia to close out 2012, and they haven’t been much better in 2013 with the losses of each of their top five tacklers from a year ago. Nebraska is giving up 445.4 total yards per game to rank 98th in the country in total defense. Plays on underdog of 10.5 to 21 points (PURDUE) – after failing to cover the spread in 3 out of their last 4 games against opponent after covering the spread in 2 out of their last 3 games are 206-121 (63%) ATS since 1992. Nebraska is 15-33 against the spread in its last 48 road games off a home win by 17 points or more. The Cornhuskers are 1-8-1 against the number in their last 10 road games overall. The Boilermakers are 8-1 against the spread in their last nine games following a double-digit loss at home. This will be Nebraska's first road game of the season, which is tough for any team. While it did go 3-2 in true road games last year, Nebraska's wins came by 1, 4 and 6 points, or by a combined 11 points. The Huskers are being way overvalued on the road Saturday, especially when you consider they are still playing without starting quarterback Taylor Martinez. Roll with Purdue Saturday.

NCAA-F | Oct 12 '13 (3:30p) Florida vs LSU	Florida +7-110 at bodog
15* Florida/LSU CBS Saturday No-Brainer on Florida +7 Florida has been a completely different team since inserting Tyler Murphy in as their starting quarterback. He led them to a comeback win over Tennessee by a final of 31-17 after replacing the injured Jeff Driskel on September 21. Since then, he led the Gators to a 24-7 victory at Kentucky as an 11-point favorite, and a 30-10 home victory over Arkansas as a 12.5-point favorite. Murphy is making plays and not turning the ball over like Driskel did. Murphy is completing 72.2 percent of his passes for 530 yards and five touchdowns against one interception, while also rushing for 135 yards and two scores. Matt Jones has recently returned at running back to give the offense a boost as well. He has rushed for 322 yards and two scores. Solomon Patton (19 receptions, 348 yards, 4 TD), Trey Burton (23, 282, 1 TD) and Quinton Dunbar (18, 274) are all solid targets outside for Murphy. LSU hasn’t faced a defense near the caliber of the one it will be up against Saturday. Florida is allowing just 12.2 points and 217.0 total yards per game to rank 2nd in the country in total defense. It is outgaining opponents by a whopping 176.4 total yards per game on the season. LSU has clearly taken a step back defensively this season, yielding 24.7 points and 367.0 total yards per game. It gave up 44 points in its only true test of the season in a loss to Georgia on September 28. One reason I believe this line is inflated is due to LSU's 59-26 win over Mississippi State last week. That was a 31-26 game at the end of three quarters as the Bulldogs were right in it. However, LSU would score 28 points in the fourth quarter to make the final score look like a much bigger blowout than it really was. The Tigers allowed 468 total yards to a suspect Mississippi State offense. That was the third straight game in which they allowed 437 or more yards. They gave up 437 to Auburn and 494 to Georgia as well. Plays on a road team (FLORIDA) – after allowing 14 points or less in 2 straight games against opponent after playing a game where 80 total points or more were scored are 37-12 (75.5%) ATS since 1992. LSU is 3-13 against the spread in its last 16 games off a two game road trip. Les Miles is 1-9 against the number as a home favorite of 7.5 points or less in all games he has coached. Florida held LSU to 200 total yards in last year’s 14-6 home victory. Zach Mettenberger went 11 of 25 passing for 158 yards with an interception. The Gators are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven trips to LSU. Look for Mettenberger to struggle against the first legitimate defense he has faced all season. Bet Florida Saturday.

NCAA-F | Oct 12 '13 (3:30p) Boston College vs Clemson	Boston College +24½-105 at 5Dimes
25* ACC GAME OF THE YEAR on Boston College +24.5 The Boston College Eagles are clearly an improved team in 2013. They brought back 18 starters and have gotten off to an impressive 3-2 start this year. They have improved as the season has gone on with their last two performances being their best two heading into this one. Boston College only lost by a final of 34-48 at Florida State as a 24-point underdog on September 28. It put up 407 total yards on a very good FSU defense, which shut out Maryland 63-0 last week. Boston College amassed 523 total yards in a 48-27 beat down of Army as a 12.5-point favorite last weekend. Quarterback Chase Rettig is gaining confidence with each start, completing 64.2 percent of his passes for 896 yards with nine touchdowns and three interceptions on the season. However, the biggest playmaker on the Eagles is running back Andre Williams. He has already rushed for 768 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging 5.8 yards per carry. Receiver Alex Amidon is a beast as well, catching 32 balls for 431 yards and two touchdowns. This is a huge letdown spot for Clemson. It has a meeting lined up with No. 6 Florida State next week on October 19. The Tigers will clearly be overlooking Boston College and looking ahead to that showdown with the Seminoles. That’s because the game against FSU will not only likely decide the Atlantic Division, it also has huge BCS Championship implications as well. No matter how much head coach Dabo Swinney tries to get his players from overlooking Boston College, the fact of the matter is that these young players know what’s at stake next week because it’s all over the media. Plays on road underdogs (BOSTON COLLEGE) – after a game where they forced no turnovers against opponent after two consecutive games with a turnover margin of +2 or better are 30-7 (81.1%) ATS over the last 10 seasons. Boston College is 16-3 against the spread in its last 19 games after three consecutive games where it forced one or less turnovers. Clemson has never beaten Boston College by more than 22 points in the history of this series. That includes a 45-31 victory last season over the Eagles, and I expect a similar final in this one, if not closer. Bet Boston College Saturday.

NCAA-F | Oct 12 '13 (4:00p) Oregon vs Washington	Washington +14-110 at betonline
15* Oregon/Washington Pac-12 No-Brainer on Washington +14 This isn’t the same Washington team that has lost nine straight to Oregon over the last nine years. In fact, it is a Washington team that should be 5-0 right now after dominating Stanford on Saturday, but managing to lose by a final of 28-31 as a 9-point underdog. The Huskies outgained the Cardinal 489-279, or by 205 total yards. However, they gave up a touchdown on the opening kickoff and were killed on special teams. That effort really showed what this team is capable of. The numbers don’t lie, the Huskies are one of the best teams in the entire country. They are scoring 37.4 points and averaging 557.0 total yards per game to rank 5th in the FBS in total offense. They are allowing just 14.8 points and 287.8 total yards per game to rank 10th in total defense. As you can see, they are outgaining opponents by an average of 269.2 total yards per game on the season. This is a team that returned 19 starters from last season, and this is clearly Steve Sarkisian’s best squad yet. The numbers are even more impressive when you consider the tough schedule that the Huskies have faced. They have already played the likes of Boise State, Illinois, Arizona and Stanford. That’s a much tougher slate than what Oregon has been up against (Colorado, Cal, Tennessee, Virginia, Nicholls State). Not one of those five teams currently has a winning record on the season. Keith Price is completing 71.3 percent of his passes for 1,394 yards with 11 touchdowns and three interceptions. Bishop Sankey has rushed for a whopping 732 yards and seven scores already. These two players lead the offense and have improved dramatically since last season. I also like the new, fast-paced offense that is really paying dividends for the Huskies. Washington did lose 21-52 to Oregon last season on the road. However, it held the Ducks to less than 500 yards of total offense. This defense has grown by leaps and bounds since last year. Taking a look back to the last time these teams squared off in Washington in 2011, I find that this was a 24-17 game deep into the third quarter. Oregon would eventually win 34-17 as a 16.5-point favorite, but Price was only a sophomore that year and playing on a much less-talented team. Plays on home underdogs of 10.5 to 21 points (WASHINGTON) – in conference games, with 8 or more offensive starters including the QB returning are 79-35 (69.3%) ATS over the last 10 seasons. The Huskies are 14-3 against the spread in their last 17 home games. Washington is 7-0 against the number in its last seven home games after playing its last game on the road. The Huskies have a huge home-field advantage with their new stadium in 2013. You can bet it’s going to be rocking in Seattle Saturday afternoon. I have been riding the Huskies all year with a ton of success, and I still feel they are undervalued. I believe they have an excellent shot to pull off the upset in this one. NCAA-F | Oct 12 '13 (8:30p) Texas A&M vs Ole Miss	Ole Miss +6-110 at BMaker
20* Texas A&M/Ole Miss SEC GAME OF THE WEEK on Ole Miss +6 Few teams in the country have faced a schedule as tough as the one that Ole Miss has been up against in the early going. In all reality, it has done an excellent job of opening 3-2 considering it has already faced four road games against the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Texas and Vanderbilt. This is still one of the better teams in the country that returned 19 starters from last year. Now, the Rebels get to start a stretch in which they play six straight home games. Ole Miss clearly wants revenge from last year’s 30-27 home loss to Texas A&M. It led 27-17 in the fourth quarter and blew that game by allowing two late touchdowns to the Aggies. I believe the Rebels are a better team than they were a year ago, while the Aggies have taken a step back. Bo Wallace threw for 305 yards while Jeff Scott rushed for 108 yards in last year’s loss. Ole Miss did a good job of containing Johnny Manziel, limiting him to 191 passing yards and one touchdown to two interceptions. It also took him 20 carries to get 129 yards. Despite playing such a tough schedule already, Ole Miss has put up some pretty solid numbers. It ranks 51st in the country in total offense at 427.8 yards per game, and 40th in total defense at 361.4 yards per game. There’s no question that the Rebels have the better stop unit in this one. The Aggies are giving up 30.8 points and 476.8 total yards per game to rank 113th in total defense. That’s against a much easier schedule than Ole Miss with the likes of Rice, Sam Houston State and SMU aside from Arkansas and Alabama. Plays on underdogs of 3.5 to 10 points (OLE MISS) – off a road loss, with 6+ more total starters returning than opponent are 28-7 (80%) ATS over the last 10 seasons. Texas A&M is just 6-19 against the spread in its last 25 road games off a bye week. The Aggies are 0-7 against the number in their last seven road games after gaining 450 or more total yards in three consecutive games. 20* Cal/UCLA Pac-12 GAME OF THE WEEK on California +25.5 The California Bears are simply catching too many points against UCLA Saturday. You won't find many teams that have played a tougher schedule than Cal to this point, which is the biggest reason for its 1-4 start. It has actually handled itself well, losing 30-44 to Northwestern, 34-52 to Ohio State, 16-55 to Oregon and 22-44 to Washington State. Many of those final scores were very misleading. Cal actually outgained Northwestern 548-508 and Washington State 585-570. It was only outgained by Ohio State 503-608 and by Oregon 325-383. As you can see, only one of those losses came by more than 22 points. I simply believe that UCLA is overvalued as a 25-point favorite here considering it has faced such an easy schedule to this point. Cal is certainly battle-tested and we'll always have a chance for a cover in this game due to its electric offense. The Bears rank 18th in the country in total offense at 515.4 yards per game, including 4th in passing offense at 402.6 yards per game. Freshman quarterback Jared Goff has already thrown for 1,801 yards and nine touchdowns against five interceptions. Chris Harper (37 receptions, 558 yards, 4 TD) and Bryce Treggs (36, 418, 1 TD) are absolute studs at receiver. My biggest reason for betting against UCLA and on Cal in this one is the fact that the Bruins are in a huge letdown spot. They have Stanford on deck next week, whom they lost two twice last season, including a setback in the Pac-12 Title Game. They also have Oregon the week after. There's no question that UCLA will be looking ahead to those two games, and overlooking 1-4 Cal. The Golden Bears absolutely dominated UCLA last season by a final of 43-17. They put up 481 total yards, while limiting the Bruins to just 381 total yards. UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley threw four interceptions in the loss. Zach Maynard threw for 295 yards and four touchdowns in the win for Cal, and I look for Goff to have a big day as well against this suspect UCLA defense. UCLA is 3-13 against the spread off two consecutive covers as a favorite since 1992. It is coming back to lose 27.2 to 29.2 in this spot. The Bruins are 16-35-1 against the number in their last 52 games vs. a team with a losing record. The underdog is 12-4-1 against the spread in the last 17 meetings in this series. You have to go all the way back to 2001 to find the last time that UCLA beat Cal by more than 17 points, which was a 56-17 victory. In fact, that was the only time in the last 21 meetings that UCLA beat Cal by more than 18 points. That makes for a 20-1 system backing the Golden Bears when you factor in the spread for this game. Bet California Saturday.

These teams played a slugfest in Gainesville last October. LSU kicked two first-half field goals, but Florida scored two second half TDs in a 14-6 victory. The teams combined for just 437 yards of offense. LSU has had no trouble moving the ball this year. After losing a shootout to Georgia two weeks ago, the Tigers bounced back with 563 yards of offense in a 59-26 victory at Mississippi State. Since QB Tyler Murphy took over for an injured Jeff Driskell, the Gators have won and covered in both Murphy’s starts.
