CELTICS OVER 196
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been the NBA's best team for a huge majority of the season, Now it's time for them to really prove it.
Likely 2008-09 MVP winner LeBron James will lead the Cavaliers against Detroit Pistons in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference First rd playoffs this afternoon from Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.
Prior to Wednesday's overtime home loss to Philadelphia, Cleveland's last loss to an Eastern Conference team was on April 30th, 2008 to the Washington Wizards in Game 5 of their 1st round playoff series.
Mo Williams will be the player to watch for the Cavaliers, as he averaged 17 points vs. Detroit in the regular season & shot a blistering 47 percent from 3-point range.
I look for Cleveland to beat an Allen-Iverson less Pistons team in Game 1 & continue their season-long homecourt dominance.
All CAVS.
Portland might be the youngest team in the playoffs, but they will be ready to show off their talent tonight in Game 1 of a Western Conference 1st rd series against the Houston Rockets.
Blazers guard Brandon Roy is a rising superstar who continues to improve every year, as he averaged a career-high 22.6 points per game this season.
Tonight will also be the playoff debut for Greg Oden, who missed all of last season with a foot injury.
Yao Ming actually struggled against Portland this season, as he averaged 16.7 points & 8.7 rebounds on just 43% shooting in 3 games against them.
Ron Artest struggled as well, as he averaged 15 points per game on just 36% shooting in 3 games.
Look for Portland to take their home opener behind a raucous crowd at the Rose Garden tonight.
All PORTLAND.
After a spirited comeback yesterday to notch their 1st win at the brand-new Yankee Stadium, New York will look to keep things rolling against the Cleveland Indians.
This game will feature a matchup of struggling pitchers, as Indians righthander Fausto Carmona (0-2, 9.00) will be opposed by Yankees righthander Chien-Ming Wang (0-2, 28.93).
Carmona is 0-3 in his career against New York with a 4.22 ERA.
Wang was 1-1 last season in 2 starts against Cleveland with a 1.93 ERA & struck out 13 batters, which is the highest total among all opposing AL teams.
Look for the Yankees to win again at home, which will present them a chance to take the series tomorrow against ex-teammate Carl Pavano.
All YANKEES.
