INFORMATION WORTH BETTING ON EACH DAY
_______________________________________
#911 TEXAS @ #912 NY YANKEES - 7:05 PM
•Rangers RH Miles Mikolas (0-2, 10.05 ERA, WHIP: 1.884) - After getting blitzed for nine runs on 12 hits in a loss to Houston on July 7, Mikolas didn't fare much better in his last outing. The 25-year-old allowed five runs (four earned) on nine hits in 5 2/3 innings en route to a 5-2 setback to the Los Angeles Angels on July 12. Mikolas recorded better statistics during his 27 career relief outings with San Diego over the previous two seasons, posting a 2-1 mark while working 34 frames.
•Yankees RH Shane Greene (2-0, 1.32 ERA, WHIP: 0.949) - Greene recorded his best outing to date after scattering four hits and striking out nine in 7 1/3 innings en route to a 3-0 victory over Baltimore on July 12. The 25-year-old rookie will be making his Yankee Stadium debut and is under the spotlight as New York addresses a plethora of injuries to its starting rotation. Greene has made only three appearances - and two starts - but has yielded just one homer in 13 2/3 innings.
#913 BOSTON @ #914 TORONTO - 7:05 PM
•Red Sox RH John Lackey (10-6, 3.79 ERA, WHIP: 1.257) - Lackey was in a rut prior to the All-Star break, going 2-2 with an 8.10 ERA in his last four starts. The veteran surrendered six home runs in that span and issued five walks at Houston in his final outing before the break. Lackey lost his lone outing against Toronto last season and is 5-8 with a 5.43 ERA in 20 career starts against the Blue Jays.
--KEY STAT: LACKEY is 25-8 UNDER (+15.5 Units) when the total is 8.5 to 10 over the last 2 seasons. (Team's Record)
The average score was LACKEY 4.1, OPPONENT 3.5.
•Blue Jays RH Drew Hutchison (6-8, 4.16 ERA, WHIP: 1.296) - Hutchison suffered the loss in four of his last five starts and was lit up for six runs on as many hits and five walks in 5 1/3 innings at Tampa Bay on July 12. Walks have been a problem of late for the 23-year-old, who has completed seven innings once in those last five turns. Hutchison has never lost to Boston, going 2-0 while surrendering just two runs in 12 2/3 total innings.
#915 CLEVELAND @ #916 MINNESOTA - 8:10 PM
•Indians LH T.J. House (1-2, 4.40 ERA, WHIP: 1.533) - House is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Columbus in order to make his ninth start and 10th appearance for Cleveland. The 24-year-old is likely pitching on a limited basis as starter Justin Masterson works his way back from a knee injury. House answered his first major-league win on July 5 by laboring through 4 2/3 innings of a no-decision five days later against the New York Yankees.
•Twins LH Kris Johnson (0-1, 5.40 ERA, WHIP: 2.161) - Johnson struggled mightily in his last outing, permitting a pair of two-run homers and five runs total in four innings en route to a 6-2 setback to Colorado on July 11. The 29-year-old needs to make the most of his time as Ricky Nolasco isn't expected back from flexor pronator stiffness in his right elbow until next month. Johnson held the fort in his lone home start this season on May 1, scattering four hits over 4 1/3 innings before exiting after his pitch count was elevated by six walks.
#917 KANSAS CITY @ #918 CHI WHITE SOX - 8:10 PM
•Royals RH Jeremy Guthrie (5-8, 4.56 ERA, WHIP: 1.347) - Guthrie was lit up for eight runs in four innings against Detroit on July 10 and allowed a total of 14 runs and 19 hits in eight innings over his last two turns. The Oregon native has surrendered 130 hits and 18 home runs in 120 1/3 total innings this season. Guthrie picked up a win at Chicago on June 13, yielding two runs and six hits while walking four and striking out nine in 5 2/3 innings.
--KEY STAT: GUTHRIE is 37-17 UNDER (+17.4 Units) in road games versus an American League team with an on base percentage .330 or worse since 1997. (Team's Record)
The average score was GUTHRIE 3.5, OPPONENT 4.3.
•White Sox LH Chris Sale (8-1, 2.08 ERA, WHIP: 0.842) - Sale got a nice long rest and will make his first start in 11 days while attempting to post his seventh straight quality start. The 25-year-old, who worked an inning for the American League in the All-Star Game on Tuesday, surrendered a total of two runs while striking out 18 and did not issue a walk over 16 2/3 innings in his final two starts before the break. Sale pitched eight scoreless innings to earn a win at Kansas City on April 6, scattering four hits and striking out six.
--KEY STAT: SALE is 8-0 UNDER (+8.0 Units) after giving up <=1 earned runs in his last 2 outings over the last 3 seasons. (Team's Record)
The average score was SALE 1.9, OPPONENT 2.5.

#921 DETROIT @ #922 ARIZONA - 9:40 PM
•Tigers RH Justin Verlander (8-8, 4.88 ERA, WHIP: 1.450) - Verlander continues to show flashes of his former Cy Young Award-winning form but can’t seem to take that quality stuff through an entire outing. The 31-year-old held Kansas City scoreless over six innings on July 13 before surrendering four runs in the seventh and ending up with the loss. Verlander won his lone career start against Arizona by striking out 14 and scattering four hits over eight scoreless frames.

•Diamondbacks LH Vidal Nuno (2-6, 5.10 ERA, WHIP: 1.296) - Nuno was acquired in a trade from the New York Yankees earlier this month and pitched seven scoreless innings in his debut with Arizona before struggling in his second start. The California native surrendered a grand slam to Buster Posey at San Francisco on July 13 and was saddled with the loss. Nuno never got an opportunity to face Detroit while pitching for the Yankees.
#923 NY METS @ #924 SEATTLE - 10:10 PM
•Mets LH Jon Niese (5-4, 2.96 ERA, WHIP: 1.200) - Niese is expected to be activated from the disabled list, where he's resided since July 5 due to a strained left shoulder. The 27-year-old posted back-to-back victories before exiting his start against Texas on July 4 with what was described as a lower back contusion after being hit with a line drive by the third batter of the game. Niese, who has yet to allow more than three earned runs this season, has never faced Seattle.

The 25-year-old Cuban rookie lasted only 3 1/3 frames against Minnesota on July 9 as he was tagged for seven runs - six earned - and seven hits. Elias has not fared well at home during his first season with Seattle, going 2-5 with a 5.14 ERA in 10 outings.
