3 UNIT PLAY
Arizona /San Francisco: OVER 7.5: The Over is 5-1 in Diamondbacks last 6 vs. National League West, while the Over is 7-0 in Giants last 7 when their opponent allows 5 runs or more in their previous game.Vegas has put too much stock in Randy Johnson, which is why the total is this low. Randy is returning from back surgery and there is no way that at age 44 he can be in mid-season form. One might say that he doen's have to be at his best to face this weak Giant offense, but that offense just put up 14 runs in their last 2 games, and they have put 4 or more runs on the board in 6 of their last 9 games. The D-Backs offense has been strong all year, scoring 6.4 rpg overall, while hitting a lofty .305 vs left-handed starters. That offense will take on Sanchez who 8.10 ERA in 3 lifetime starts vs them. If the starters struggle in this one then the game will be turned over to an Arizona bullpen that has a 4.66 ERA on the year and a Giants bullpen that has a 5.76 ERA this year. Neither bullpen should be should factor in, as the game goes over before it gets to them.
Colorado -149 over Minnesota: The favorite is 11-1 the last 12 in the series and the host is 10-2 over that same stretch. The Wild are 1-6 in their last 7 road games, while the Avalanche are 27-10 in their last 37 games as a home favorite. Colorado has been tough at home this year, going 27-12-1-1, including 10-1 in their last 11. They also come in having scored 15 goals ain their last 3 at home. Minnesota does have a winning road record on the year, but in they come in having lost their last 3 on the road giving up 14 goals in the process. Colorado is not very happy about the way Friday night's game ended an they will take it out on an overmatched Minnesota squad tonight.
2 UNIT PLAYS
Baltimore/ Toronto UNDER 9: The Under is 37-14-2 in Blue Jays last 53 games as a favorite of -110 to -150 and the Under is 10-1-1 in McGowans last 12 starts as a favorite, while the Under is 6-0 in the Orioles last 6 games with the total set at 9.0-10.5. Toronto's McGowan is off to a solid start, postng a 3.27 ERA in his 2 starts so far and he will be taking on a Baltimore offense that is hitting just .246 and scoring just 4.4 rpg vs right-handed starters this year. The Orioles send out Mark Albers, who started the year in the pen and pitched pretty well there giving up no ER and just 3 hits, while stiking out 7 in 6.3 inning of work. Speaking of the pens, both are solid as Toronto has a solid 3.18 ERA (2.84 on the road), while the O's pen is sporting a 2.97 ERA, including an 0.84 ERA at home. This game will be all about the pitching as the game stays well Under the total.
1 UNIT PLAYS
DETROIT -148 over Minnesota: The Tigers are 11-4 in Bondermans last 15 starts during game 1 of a series, while the Twins are 1-9 in the last 10 meetings. The Tigers send Bonderman (who has 1 of the 2 tigers wins) to the mound and he has pitched well in his last 2 starts vs the Twins, going 2-0 with a 1.84 ERA. Detroit's offense has struggled, but you have to think and explosion will be happening soon. Today should be the day as they take on Nick Blackburn, who has only made 2 career starts, and while he looked good he is facing an angry bunch of Tigers that should pick up that first home win of the year with ease.
Utah -9.over Houston: The Rockets are 1-5 ATS in the last 6 meetings in Utah, while the Jazz are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 vs. NBA Southwest and 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games as a home favorite of 5.0-10.5. Utah has been simply awesome at home this year going 36-4, while outcoring their opponent by 15ppg. The have been even more impressive down the stretch winning thier last 7 home games by an average of 24 ppg. Wow. Minnesota has gone 6-2 in their last 8 games, but just 1-2 vs teams with winning records. Those 2 losses came on the road and they were outscored by 19 ppg in those contests. Utah will be too much for the Rockets to handle tonight.
