NBA Basketball
4 Units on Sacramento Kings +2 -110
TODAY?S REDZONE BEST BET (NBA/ABC at 1:00 eastern): The bottom line is that Sacramento is actually seeking some RESPECT on national TV this afternoon. Despite their 30-11 record enter today?s contest, Sacramento is one of those teams that no one is really talking about. That is pretty incredible when you consider that the Kings have the league?s best record despite the fact that Chris Webber as not played in one single game yet this season. There are a couple of reasons why the Kings are off to a solid start. One of them has to do with an early schedule that has featured an inordinate amount of home games, where Sacramento so far has gone 21-3 at the Arco Arena. The other reason why Sacramento has such a great record is because they flat out get more people involved in their offense than any other team in the league. Head coach Rick Adelman does not get a lot of credit, but his excellent system has the Kings as the #1 PASSING team in the NBA. I just told you that the Kings have been lights out when playing at home, however, one of their 3 home setbacks this season was against none other than the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs are just like the Kings where they play their best basketball at home, going 19-3 so far. You know that Sacramento would like nothing better than to put a dent in that mark, and make statement against the talent-laden Mavs who are still trying to gel as a team with all the personnel changes, primarily involving the new scoring options (Antoine Walker and Antawn Jamison). The big question surrounding Dallas is whether they can play TOGETHER before the start of the postseason, and whether they can show any commitment to rebounding and defense. Each team involved today has a tremendous scorer (Nowitzki and Stojakovic) which pretty much evens itself out. The KEY matchup to watch is whether Steve Nash can get his Maverick teammates involved. If not, Mike Bibby and company will take this game over in the Sacramento backcourt. All you have to do is take a look at today?s posted price to see that the Kings have a great shot to win this afternoon. After all, it is Dallas who is the hot team right now, ripping off 5 wins in a row, while the Kings just got squashed at Memphis Friday Night in an ugly 109-95 loss. However, that defeat sets up a 70-PERCENT SYSTEM from my database (40-17 since 1996): you play ON teams like Sacramento in a virtual ?pick em? spot off a double-digit road loss. This system clicks in if that team is ?tired? playing their 4th ROAD game in a 7 day stretch. Sacramento is 5-1 ATS for the season after failing to cover 4 of their prior 6 contests. In addition, the Mavs are only 1-5 ATS at home after 3 consecutive ****** as a favorite.

2 Units on Denver Nuggets +6 -110
NBA UNDERDOG/DAY: Regular clients know that I had a 5-UNIT Best Bet winner with the Grizzlies back on Monday Night. This team has now won SEVEN games in a row, and is now only 4 victories shy of matching a franchise record with 28 wins in a single season. So why am I going against the Grizzlies this afternoon? First of all they are in a classic ?letdown? spot after whipping Sacramento 109-95 on Friday Night. The Kings just happen to have the best record in the NBA, so the Grizzlies put a lot of emotion into that triumph, which will make it a bit difficult for this young team to have complete focus this afternoon. It was just a year ago that both the Grizzlies and Nuggets combined for only 45 total wins. This season, both these squads have made an incredible turnaround and will most likely be battling for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. That is why I will gladly take the generous points that are being offered simply due to the long win streak that Memphis is currently riding. The bottom line is that DENVER has won and covered 6 of the past 9 clashes with Memphis. Do NOT be fooled by Denver?s recent slate, as the Nuggets are 6-1 ATS FOR THE SEASON after failing to cover in consecutive games!!! Meanwhile, my research in the database tells me that Memphis is just 3-10 ATS after consecutive games where they were outrebounded by double-digits versus an opponent.

2 Units on New Jersey Nets U 179½ -110
NBA PERCENTAGE TOTAL: It was just one week ago on Sunday afternoon when Boston was humiliated at home on national TV by the San Antonio Spurs who shot an incredible 53-percent from the field enroute to an easy 109-92 victory. Celtics head coach Jim O?Brien rarely has ripped his team in public, but he called that game the worst defensive performance he has ever seen in all his years with the Celtics, including the Rick Pitino era. Ever since that defeat, O?Brien has proclaimed that he is only going to go with players on the floor who will play with a high level of DEFENSIVE intensity. Thus is it not a shock to me that Boston has given up point totals of only 84 and 89 since that debacle last Sunday. In those two games this week, Boston has only been going with an 8-man rotation as O?Brien is sticking to his demand of DEFENSE first. New Jersey has played excellent defense at home all season long, permitting an average of just 83 points per game. That is the main reason why the Nets are 12-8 UNDER at home for the season. The problem for New Jersey has been offense, as they scored only 64 POINTS last time out in an embarrassing loss at Miami. According to my database, the Nets are 5-1 UNDER SINCE 1996 at home off 3 consecutive double digit losses (6-0 UNDER at home this season after scoring less than 81 points in their prior outing). The big news is that BOSTON IS 6-0 UNDER THE PAST THREE SEASONS on the road after forcing an opponent to commit at least 23 turnovers!

NCAA Basketball
3 Units on Northern Illinois -8 -110
TODAY?S COLLEGE REDZONE BEST BET (3:00 eastern): First of all, Northern Illinois has beaten Buffalo at a 12-3 clip in this series, so I am confident UNI will win outright this afternoon. But the big news is that Northern Illinois has WON SIX IN A ROW at home, where they are a completely different team as opposed to on the road where they are 0-8. So far at home this season, Northern Illinois is winning by an average of TEN points per game, while the defense is permitting just 61 points per contest. That is bad news for a Buffalo team that that has LOST 6 in a row (0-4 ATS) where the defense has been awful giving up point totals of 72, 84, 90 and 86 in the most recent four contests. Taking a look at Northern Illinois, one will see that have a sub .500 record, but consider that even though they are on a 1-4 slide, all 4 losses came on the road. They just happen to lead the MAC Conference in BLOCKED SHOTS with 73, so they will control in the paint. Checking the database, Northern Illinois is 9-1 ATS off a close loss of 6-or-LESS points (8-2 ATS after a game where the outrebounded an opponent by at least 15 boards). Meanwhile, Buffalo is 1-7 ATS on the road off at least 4 consecutive losses the past 3 seasons. I like the percentages as Northern Illinois seeks to extend their home winning streak to SEVEN straight!

2 Units on Oregon +11 -110
CBS-TV PERCENTAGE LOCK (4:00 eastern): Regular clients will be aware that I layed the 20 points on Thursday with Arizona and cashed the ticket. Lute Olsen?s troops have now won consecutive games by huge margins of 97-72 and 109-75, as the Wildcats have bounced back following a mini 1-2 SU slide in resounding fashion. However, Arizona?s recent prosperity has only increased the price tag of this afternoon?s clash with an Oregon who excels with the THREE-POINT shot, which means the Ducks will be able to ?hang around?. I have found out that in the past couple of weeks, Oregon head coach Ernie Kent has put his team through INTENSE practice sessions from Monday-thru-Wednesday. Those sessions, which have been ?boot like? as described the coach, have emphasized shot blocking, going for loose balls, taking charges PLUS lots of yelling and screaming. It worked as Oregon won outright on the road at Arizona State on Thursday Night shooting an incredible 77-PERCENT from the field in the second half! Keep an eye on Luke Jackson who has 21 points along with 12 assists in the upset win. I was shocked to see from my database that Arizona is a horrible 1-10 ATS at home versus ?good? teams (winning percentage 60-to-80). But the big news is that OREGON IS 11-0 ATS VERSUS GOOD FREE THROW SHOOTING TEAMS that make at least 72-percent of their attempts. Shocking indeed

LOUISVILLE (14-1 SU/8-4-1 ATS) at TENNESSEE (10-4 SU/7-5 ATS)

6th-ranked Louisville takes their act on the road as they travel to Knoxville for a non-conference clash with Tennessee. Louisville was successful in their last game, a 93-66 rout over 5th-ranked Cincinnati on Wednesday as -4½ point home chalks. Taquan Dean scored 21 points and Francisco Garcia had 19 with seven assists, as Louisville beat the previously undefeated Bearcats with an exclamation mark. Luke Whitehead added 18 points and eight rebounds for the Cardinals, who won their 14th straight game since a one-point overtime loss in the season-opener against Iowa. Louisville led 44-40 lead at the halftime, but used a series of offensive spurts in the second half to rout their conference rivals. The Cardinals only hit 8-of-24 from three point land, but Cincinnati was just 4-of-14. Louisville has the ability to get it done on both ends of the court this season. The team is averaging 81 ppg, while holding opponents to just 58.7 ppg on .357 percent shooting from the floor. Garcia and Whitehead are a lethal combination in the frontcourt. Garcia leads the team in scoring at 14.6 ppg, while Whitehead averages 14.1 ppg and a team-high 8.7 rpg. Dean averages 13 ppg and Larry O'Bannon puts up 10.2 ppg to give the Cardinals are very solid backcourt. Dean is one of the top three-point shooters in the nation, hitting 47.6 percent of his bombs through 15 games (51-of-107).

The Volunteers come off a gut-wrenching 69-68 OT loss at home on Tuesday to 8th-ranked Kentucky as +4 point underdogs. Scooter McFadgon scored a career-high 33 points for Tennessee, who have dropped two straight games and had their nine-game home winning streak snapped. McFadgon ended 8-of-17 from the field and was 13-of-13 from the free throw line. Kentucky made 24-of-59 attempts from the field (40 percent) and hit only 3-of-24 three-point tries (13 percent). The Volunteers made 17-of-55 shots (30 percent), and shot a dismal 4-of-17 from behind the arc (24 percent). The Vols were out-rebounded in the game 47-35 and hit 18-of-26 from the foul line, while Kentucky hit 30-of-36 from the free throw line. In the first half, McFadgon led Tennessee with 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including 4-of-6 from three-point range. McFadgon leads the team with 19.1 ppg, making him the SEC's leading scorer. Brandon Crump comes in averaging 15.9 ppg, while guard C.J. Watson adds 11.8 ppg. Crump leads the team in rebounding with 6.8 boards per game, while Jemere Hendrix averages 6.5 rpg. As a team, Tennessee is scoring 78.9 ppg and is shooting .468 percent from the floor. Watson is hitting .447 percent from three point land and the Vols are hitting 36.4 percent of their three-point tries. Tennessee allows 70.1 ppg on .421 shooting from the floor, but out-rebounds their foes by 7.2 rpg, which ranks 16th in the nation. Both teams come in 6-2 ATS in their last eight lined games, however, the Vols are 6-0 ATS in their last six home games and are catching Louisville off Cincinnati. Granted, Tennessee is off a big game of their own, but it was a loss, so expect them to be fully focused here. Two recent meetings between these two teams have been decided by a total of 4 points combined. Take the points.
