Seriously why mess with tradition? Dallas is 9-0 SU and ATS with Atlanta since February 23rd, 1999. In the most-recent five encounters, the Mavericks are averaging 112 points a game. Dallas is quietly 6-1 SU (5-1-1 ATS) in their last seven road games. They have reached the 100-point plateau in seven of their last eight road games. While viewing last Monday?s Clippers/Hawks game from Atlanta, I was amazed how many easy buckets LA was able to get despite the fact Corey Maggette left in the first quarter with an injury. I seriously considered the ?OVER? as well but not after finding that Atlanta has reached triple digits in scoring once in their last 27 games. Dallas has connected on 48 percent or better in five of their last six games. As anticipated, Atlanta did finally get the monkey off their collective backs by winning their 2nd straight at Boston on Friday, but 29 turnovers against the Celtics has me still very skeptical about this team. The Hawks traditionally struggle against teams that can light up the scoreboard. Note they?ve already lost to Sacramento twice this year by 12 and 16 points. Dallas is now 12-2 in their last 14 and a season high 14-games over .500 this year. The Mavericks come off a three-point home win over Detroit. Did you know that Dallas is a perfect 8-0 ATS the last three years after a home victory of three points or less? They have outscored the opposition in those eight games by an average of 15 per contest. Meanwhile Atlanta is 0-7 ATS this year at home if playing six or more games in a 10-day stretch. But it does bother me that Dallas allowed 104 to New Orleans last Wednesday (without Baron Davis) and 108 to Detroit on Saturday night. Atlanta can surprise at home on occasion (beat San Antonio wire-to-wire here on 1/13).
