i think he gets way FEWER votes if he's black............ the key combo in my mind is killer stats as a leader of a great team. also huge performances in absolutely pivotal games as 3rd factor
to me, i think watson should have been runaway winner
to me, henry had great running stats and was a leader of great team. also very big performances in the most important games of season (most important games for the entire NCAAF landscape), not just your own team
mccaffrey, unbelievable stats (some of it a bit late but probably shouldn't matter)..... but NOT leader of top team. and either no "most important" games or stanford didn't get it done in those games.
i think watson clearly deserved it as combo as all that i said.... and i think pass and rush yards combined mean alot more than rush/receiving yards totalled up (and of course there are return yards which need to be meaningful as they are for mccaffrey).
i don't think a statistical guy on a good team should EVER win it over great stats guys on championship teams that won huge games (watson and henry qualify)........
this may be irrelevant but nfl drafting patterns suggest QB >>>>>>>> TB in importance... i realize this is college football and it's not most valuable but most outstanding (i think)
edit: upon further reflection i think mccaffrey gets moderately fewer votes if black. maybe not alot less.... i do think he stands out in voters eyes because he's white though. makes up a bit for the negative bias of late night east coast games in P12
