Over the last couple of months I have been betting and laying US racing with mixed results. Once again, there is a difference between British and American betting. Bottom line is, British, and I will also say Australian odds, are based on Bookmakers opinions, whereas the US racing is more prone to the Tote way of doing things.
The problem is. If you had a 6 runner race, in Britain the Bookmakers would show you the true odds through the open market they work in. The US market is controlled on course through, if not majority, certainly a big percentage of uninformed Punters.
What I am trying to get at here is, a US claiming race, if under British standards, would show that half the field are 100/1 shots, yet because people are on course and fancy the name or whatever, they can distort a weak market.
I suppose my questions, are in fact really mercenary. Is there a site that can give, like Britain, a weight difference for all Horses, is there a place that can show you who these donkeys are.
I would like to add, anybody involved in Horseracing need to seriously find a way of getting on Betfair. Please give some answers, even if they are laughable.
