How many of you became religious after the age of 10. I've been thinking because I was never exposed to religion at a young age, that's the reason I have trouble accepting it as an adult.

The only people I've met that switched to religion as adults were those that fucked up somehow with booze or drugs. And needed something else to latch to.

And for those that were indoctrinated at a young age, do you feel you would have been religious if left to your own devices later in life?

KB, I was actively exposed to Christianity from birth, but my current understanding of how to live and to apply the gospel of Jesus Christ did not come to fruition until I was past 30 years old

Prior to that, I'd estimate that upwards of 90% of my "religious" beliefs and related behavior patterns were founded on gaining approval from the family and immediate social circle in my life.

I was raised Catholic. As a young adult I just didn't get the whole thing, mostly because it was too much about religion. Now, fast forward 30 years, and I realize it is pretty simple. Receive Jesus' free gift and do your best to live by the golden rule. I believe you can get a lot of answers by finding a good non-denominational, bible based church. There are a lot of great ones out there.

Just curious why you believe the Christian Philosophy over Buddhism or Taoism?

Many Christians believe that if they were born in Cairo or Baghdad, they wouldn't be Muslim because they would "discover the truth" and refuse to go to Mosque with their parents.

I just believe there is only one true way to get to heaven, and that is through God's son, Jesus. That is what makes Christianity different from all other religions.

Have you ever been to a Catholic mass? When I was young, even though I knew about God and Jesus, I really didn't get it. Mass was so structured that I guess I missed the forest from being lost in the trees. With that being said, I have tried to become more tolerant of others and their beliefs. I guess to answer your question, I do think I would still believe because of reading the bible and experiences I have had in my adult life.

So if your were born in Pakistan to Muslim parents and had no opportunity to be exposed to Christianity, you would be shit out of luck?

You would still somehow find your way to Christianity?
I guess what I am saying is that there ARE people who will never have the opportunity. I agree that it does not seem fair. I'm having a hard time if we are in a discussion, or an argument...but that seems about right for a discussion between someone from Texas and Oklahoma.

lol, what a silly question

how can someone know what they would, or would not, believe if they were raised in a way that they actually weren't raised?

there are actually a great many bonds found in the origins of Islam, Judaism and Christianity.

I'm from the school that we all have the same god, we just choose to worship differently. So I don't worry to much about why other people choose to worship as they do. I don't believe I'm right and they're wrong, except when they think God is telling them to kill somebody.

BELIEVE OR ROT IN HELL. And its this type of logic (if you can call it that) is why i think religion is a control piece and thats it. If you need spooky story's and threats and unrealistic promises to make you walk the line that 90% of us do anyway, then rock on.

Because religion (and more specifically, denominations) is like the plague, you need infected people to spread it. Kinda like my current problem. I didnt just get the swine flu....

It was roadreeler bring back all those illegal Mexicans in the back of his rig and giving me head when he returned (with said Mexicans in his coffers) that gave it to me.

So you're saying religious salvation is a result in large part to the geography in which your ancestors fornicated and procreated.
