I'm happy for the interested fans nationwide, but I don't believe the NFL's decision had much to do with Kerry's grandstanding.

If Kerry were elected president instead of GDub, we'd all have free NFL Sunday Ticket in our homes by now. :)

So you don't believe Goodell himself...

"The NFL had faced mounting pressure from lawmakers in recent weeks to make the game available to more viewers.
Local TV affiliates in the Boston, Manchester, N.H., and New York areas who were already set to simulcast the game under NFL policy will still air it.
The NFL has feuded with major cable companies, who have declined to carry the network as part of basic packages.
"We have taken this extraordinary step because it is in the best interest of our fans," commissioner Roger Goodell said."

...and Kerry said this in his letter to Goodell...

"I hope it is not too late to get something done for fans everywhere. Thank you for consideration of this request."

So the NFL admits to being under increasing pressure from lawmakers to show this game on regular TV; Kerry, who is a lawmaker, sends Goodell a letter asking him to do something for the fans; Goodell does something for the fans; but Wynn doesn't see a connection. Does anyone have a 2 x 4?

am glad the big cable companies didnt back down from the nfl and add the nfl channel to their systems. Fuck the greedy nfl pigs. They dont make enough money a year and now have to add their own tv network and want cable companies to pay for it. Whats next from the greedy nfl? 14.95 pay per view games?

No, Wynn didn't see this statement from Goodell. Based on the quote you provided, I must admit that this tool actually impacted the NFL's decision.

I should have read the article before expressing an opinion. My bad.
