It means that the Bill has been placed in the queue of Bills that will eventually be presented to the full Senate. It may or not be voted upon in this session. Nothing has really changed, just the Senate version of the Bill has been advanced by the Bill's sponsors.

BTW, the link posted above leads to a pdf version of the Bill.

Gut feeling. There is no worry. We are at War Men. Surely the Senate has no time for this matter.

I'd bet Kyl was passing around a lot of "atta-boys" with this.
General I hope you are right.
But let me make a prediction. Look for Gas/Oil prices to drop latter this year. Bush will give them it all back ( later after he hopes he is elected. They are on the same team. Atta-boys"

I understand that this Bill will face considerable opposition from the banking industry. They do not want to be held responsible for failing to block these transfers. They are also complaining that the costs of implementing systems to identify the recipient accounts as offshore gambling establishments will be a hardship for them and is virtually impossible.

When you think about it, trying to make the banks legally responsible for blocking transfers when the banks customers are not held responsible for attempting to send funds is ludicrous. The banks have a very good point here.

hanover,
My understanding of the Kyl bill is that it does contain player penalties. Maybe it won't end up that way as the house version of a similiar bill did not contain player penalties. But--I also think that the house version has some language to prevent ALL forms including horse wagering --wheras Kyl's does not. Hey-I'm not sure! Wild Bill will be along shortly to clear this mess all up--I hope!

from what I hear (and I am by far an expert on gov't) this will not come up for vote this year, and likely not even next year. Too much other shit going on.

Even if so, there will always be ways around this. Money creates opportunity, so look for some new money transer methods. The books will not just say "fvk it" and fold.

Oldmantime, the link posted above is a link to the Bill itself. If you can find player penalties in it, you're eyes are better than mine. Let's not start a panic over rumor.

I'm not going to read through it. It's in the languge , not the word "Player" or "bettor". But it mentions anyone--and up to 5 years in jail. But, I'm no lawyer. The two bills are very different. I guess since Kyl is a senator, therefore one a few, giving that body more power from an indivual standpoint than the House of Reps. ; that is why we only read of the Kyl bill. I'll wait for the "final version" of a bill to see what the heck it says. Even then it will be up to interrpretation--so a lawyer will be needed. Hey-they protect their own.

oldmantime....we still have time before it becomes Law , IF it does in fact come to that you can just find a new hobby at that point. They will not go back 2 yrs to get your for online betting even if it had a clause for the bettor...just stop when and if it becomes officially "Illegal" and you have nothing to worry about...that is what im going to do if it comes to that

The only thing this means to me is that neteller is in jeopardy. Thats my concern here not weather my realtionship with pinnacle and friends will end.

The gov got credit cards, nixed paypal, have WU half in the bag. I think (not that I am an expert) that this bill has neteller and its newcomers in mind and seeing how neteller has obliged for the state of MD its a legitimate concern.

This bill may not stop the bookie sites but its enough to hault anyone from having liquidality (is this a word? I dunno, fuk it I'm using it) for now.

This is enough to make me quit. I don't think I can profit without it or somehting like it that I can trust.

Neteller is not located in the USA and is not subject to american law.

I would say that US based financial intermediaries are more in jeoprady than any foriegn based company might be
