There are no NCAA rules about holding spring football practices off campus or out of state. Spring football games are a different story than practices. What Harbaugh has announced falls within the NCAA rules.

The SEC is not necessarily scared of Harbaugh and Michigan. The conference is afraid this will be a trend that catches on with programs throughout the north that can afford to pick up and travel south for a full week in the cold days of March. The last thing the SEC wants to see is half or more of the Big Ten and perhaps other programs located in the north planting flags in their borders for a week.

Wouldn't it be great if these SEC teams played a Big 10 team in Nov/Dec on the Big 10 home field?

I said this was going to happen in the recruiting thread a few weeks ago and it took all of 6 days after Michigan announced it that the SEC started crying about it. The most comical part of it is that the SEC commish is literally trying to say its not fair to the kids because its during their spring break. Just come out and say it, you don't want Harbaugh to come to florida because you dont want Michigan to establish more of a presence in the south. Saying you don't want kids to miss spring break is laughable. Right off its very common for northern schools to go to warm weather sites during spring break. Michigan baseball, softball, rowing, golf, mens and womens lacrosse ect all have games and or practices away from Ann Arbor during spring break. To make it even more laughable, from a quick glance at a schedule it looks like Alabama baseball has exhibition games in North Carolina during their spring break.

Jesus, let Michigan practice in Paris, France for all I care.

When the season starts, they put their jocks on just like everyone else.

Seems there is a huge advantage for practicing at home to me.

agree with you. its a whole lot to do about nothing. northern teams come south or out west all the time for practice. This isn't a new thing. its just new in football. But even still the IMG players wont be at school during that time and the coaches cant talk with the players during that time anyway. The whole thing is being blown out of proportion cause of the SEC commish crying about it. Had he never brought it up it wouldn't really have been much of a story. There is an old saying, don't turn a one day story into a two day story. It ended up being a 3+ day story thanks to the SEC commish

Isn't Florida more ACC country? I don't see them crying about it...

Actually the ACC commisioner also made comments about how it shouldn't be allowed just the other day.

Its a very simple principal. The south has more elite talent then the north does. Hence why a northern school would want to come down south. We all know its for recruiting and we all know the real reason the sec commish has a problem with it is because of recruiting, stop hiding behind the good of the student athlete crap. I get it, its his job to advocate for the SEC conference but does the guy actually think a single person believes what he says when he starts talking about the good of the student shit
