SEC coaches are ramping up for an important practice period that helps them evaluate players for the coming season.....yeah, it spring football time. Some teams like Texas, Texas Tech, Baylor and a handful of others start next week. Most schools schedule spring practice for March-April.

Listed below is the schedule for SEC teams.

Alabama - March 21.....Spring game April 16
Arkansas - March 15........................April 16
Auburn - March 23..........................April 16
Florida - March 16...........................April 9
Georgia - March 10..........................April 16
Kentucky - March 30........................April 23
LSU - March 11................................April 9
Miss St. - March 4............................April 9
Ole Miss - March 28..........................April 16
S. Carolina - March 15......................April 9
Tennessee - March 22.......................April 16
Vanderbilt - March 17.......................April 17

Spring practice is a very important time for many players and coaches. Make or break time for some.

Some starting next week already? I wonder why the rush to "make or break" so soon?
There's gotta be some reason for it. Personally I'm used to March or April at the latest for
spring camp to be under way. Is the early jump a Texas thing or what? Have they been
doing it this way for a while? Maybe there's some kind of strategy involved for a reason
or maybe it's just how they've done it for years. Beats me.

Conan, it may have something to do w/ spring break (allowing the players to get that week off). Not sure why some of the schools go so early. They usually want to be done before mid-April, due to final exams (although that's not an issue in the fall!).

I heard one coach say a few years back that starting early gives injured players time to heal.

Also heard, because some guys run track or play baseball and early practice helps them.

Other than that...I don't have a clue. Would seem later the better to me....fact is, after going through nine spring practices during my football days....just glad I don't have to go through another one.

Many of you guys know what I'm talking about.....................

Can't come soon enough for me. Odd what we look forward to in life isn't it. Reckon it's like those goofballs that get excited about pitchers and catchers every Spring....

It's a never ending flow of information by bits and pieces that all come together eventually. You never know when there will be some small clue about a team or coach that will lead to a winning wager at some point -- a clearer picture of what might happen in a game. That's what it does for me. Knowledge is the best weapon anyone can have to beat the man. Bring it on.
