Can somebody please try to convince me that there is a resepectable conference with worse Quarterback play?

Chris Nickson/ MacKenzi Adams
Casey Dick
Kodi Burns/Chris Todd
Jonathan Crompton/Nick Stevens
Mike Hartline
Jarrett Lee/Andrew Hatch
Tyson Lee
Jevan Sneed
Chris Smelley

Now I know I conveniently left out Tebow, Stafford, and JPW. But there can't be a conference with 9 worse QBs.

QB's are way down this year.

I still think they have better QB's in the SEC than the Big East or ACC.

Pac-10 QB's are nothing specials this year either.

The 3 the SEC has are really, really good.

Matt Millen you hit it right on the head, shit qb's lead the 3-2 games, and they say it's because of the defense, imo it's the shit qb's and offenses

After the LSU/Auburn game people were talking about how good those teams and their defenses are. Now maybe some people will jump off the SEC bandwagon and realize the SEC is terribly over rated.

Auburn, Vandy, Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Miss St, Ole Miss, South Carolina.

UGA and LSU are over rated and that'll be seen in a few weeks.

People need to stop believing what they see on ESPN. They've been blowing up the SEC for the last few years knowing they were going to buy their contract when it ran up on CBS. Brilliant business decision but every sucker that turns their TV on ESPN believes it's the Holy Grail of football.

Don't get me wrong. I think some great teams come out of the SEC. (2 National Champions in a row) But I'm tired about having to hear about playing an "SEC schedule". They don't compare to Texas's schedule...

Number 1 ranked Oklahoma
11th ranked Missouri
8th ranked Ok. State
@ 7th ranked Texas Tech
@ 16th ranked Kansas

And no I'm not a Big 12 fan at all.

The SEC is not the best conference this season, but it has been the last few years. Tennessee is usually a much better team, LSU and Auburn are okay this year but usually much stronger.

Big 12 is the best conference this year, and it's really not close.

Nicely put KRK. I can agree. But if you go down South you still hear it all the time. It gets old quick.

Oklahoma is on par with a Georgia or Florida or LSU...Oklahoma St is NOT a top ten team...they would struggle to have a winning record in the SEC. Missouri can score but can they really stop anyone? Texas Tech barely beat a shitty Nebraska team at home yesterday, and Kansas would be another team that would probably go 3-5 or 4-4 in the SEC. You can't tell me that Georgia's remaining schedule with Vandy, at LSU. Florida in Jax, at Kentucky, at Auburn, and Georgia Tech isn't tougher...physical football week after week in the SEC is a lot different than the finesse game that TT, KU, Oklahoma St, and Mizzou play. Texas and OU are as good as anyone, but most of the other teams in that league are frauds...

These are the kind of guys I'm talking about. And about UGA's remaining schedule Auburn, Kentucky, and Vandy are TERRIBLE offensive teams. If they can't beat them by 14+ they don't belong in the top 10. And Georgia Tech beat Gardner Webb 10-7 yesterday.

Just because I live in the SEC region doesn't mean I'm a total biased homer. If anything I get worn out with people have the whole SEC is holier-than-thou attitude. But I'm just calling it like I see it...Auburn has a month to figure things out offensively and if you have a good defense you can play with anyone...not to mention it's a rivalry game. I think Vandy and GT are overrated too...but nevertheless there aren't any Iowa States or Baylors or Kansas States in that schedule, not to mention playing two top ten teams away from home back to back weeks.

You think Arkansas, Mississippi State, and Kentucky/Tennessee/Vandy are that much better than Kansas State, Baylor, and Iowa State? I think you're splitting hairs there.

And who plays two top ten teams on the road in back to back weeks? IF you are talking about Auburn they play UGA at home this year.

Also you won't see anything like this happening in the Big 12..

1) Miss. State 14 LOUISANA TECH 22

2) Arkansas having to have a 4th quarter comeback to beat LOUISIANA MONROE after being down 27-14 early in the 4th. And the week before that were also trailing in the 4th to WESTERN ILLINOIS before scoring 14 unanswered.

3) Auburn's notorious 3-2 against Mississippi State.

4) Tennessee nipping NORTHERN ILLINOIS 13-9.

5) Kentucky being a yard away from losing to MIDDLE TENNESSEE STATE on a Hail Mary to grab a 20-14 W.

6) South Carolina squeaking by WOFFORD after only being up 16-13 halfway through the 4th.

7) Vandy had 542 passing yards through 6 games.

I was referring to Georgia going to LSU then playing Florida in Jacksonville back to back. It's comparing apples and oranges when you look at the two conferences because one is dominated by defense and features several sputtering offenses, the other by offense, with several questionable defenses. It's hard to say what Oklahoma State would do against an Auburn or a Tennessee...but I just remember what happened last year when they played a rebuilding Georgia team in the first game and got manhandled physically. I know that Reid was the QB then, etc, but I just don't fully buy into the 'SEC has no offense so it's not that hard' argument...

You can't really compare last years teams can you? Because if you want to go that route Michigan defeated Florida who lost to App St and Toledo and so on... So that ruins any credibility the conference had.

Yea I know...that's why qualified it with an asterisk there. Hopefully the two conferences will meet in the bowls and we can see what happens on the field. In the meantime, best of luck this year

No beef with you by any means. You aren't a "biased homer" as you put it like most SEC fans. But BOL to you the rest of the year.

Absolutely terrible QB's in the SEC this year. The only one that will even be playing QB at the next level is Matthew Stafford (going to be a special, special player). John Parker Wilson is not in the "great QB" category imo. Let him have an entire good season before we say that. They've really only played one good team this year.

I do disagree though with the statement that the QB position is down this year. I can't remember a year when we've had such special talent at the QB position. This is an up year for the position overalll imo. Sanchez, Stafford, Bradford, McCoy...all of those guys can be extremely special at the pro level. Then you have guys that are dominating in college, but might not fit in with the NFL (Daniels, Tebow, Harrell, you could even throw Reesing in here). Then you have your next tier that are still good QB's. Guys like Carpenter, Riley/Longshore, Wilson, Grothe, Tuitma (sp- Az QB), Hall, and Johnson. Then you have a couple of unknowns that could be bad, but could also be extremely good pro players. Jimmy Claussen comes to mind there. He could be a great player. He has all the attributes you look for in a QB.

I see around 6 potential future Pro-Bowlers starting for college teams right now. I'd say the position is just fine. The NFL was extremely down in QB's coming into the year, but even they have had a couple guys break out to solidify the position again (Rodgers, Cutler, and possibly Edwards).

In General I feel the sec is the toughest conference just about every year but I dont think I say that because I am a homer.
That being said the SEC is not the best every single year just because it is the SEC,and at the midway point the Big 12 looks like the better conference this year and its ok to admit that.
All you have to do is look at Alabama and texas schedule and It looks as if Alabamas schedule is easier. That can be supported by teams Like Tenn and Auburn which are normal top 10 or top 15 teams and neither belong in the top 40.I also think this is one of the weaker LSU teams in a while compared to what they usually have.

I wasn't trying to say the position overall is down. Just in the SEC. I agree with everything you just posted. Very well said.

What you say is true...but only abou this year

This year the SEC has been surpassed by the big 12 possibly...they are not overrated there are just a lot of teams rebuilding in the sec right now

you're gonna tell me this year's auburn team is the same of the few years past? this years LSU team lost a ton of talent on defense...Kentucky was pretty good last year and so was arkansas but they both suck THIS YEAR....Tennessee won the sec east last year but they are no good this year

so i think there has been a significant drop off in depth of the sec....but no they were not overrated the last few years just this year they are not as good cause most of the teams are "rebuilding" and have no qbs

I would put up the sec teams of the last few years against any other conference
