Just read some stuff from yesterday, I have said it for two years now. The top 1/2 teams in the other conferences are closing the gap. SEC use to dominate because of the men in the trenches. The good coaches have figured out different ways to attack those defenses.

I know everyone hates the SEC because they win, you have to respect that they win! Top to bottom there is not another conference equal to their strength.

I will add that the non Alabama schools are not as good as they think.. Georgia had always been a force, LSU, u guys know who they are ...teams like ole miss and miss st got caught up in the SEC hype imo. They thought they could just show up and they would win. Teams like those two up and coming programs need to prove themselves.. They sometime confuse the excellence of Alabama as the SEC. Imo it's Alabama and everyone else.. Whether sec or not.

Agree. And the biggest shame is there are exactly ZERO bowl games pitting the SEC vs PAC-12. A chance at Oregon vs Bama but I just don't understand how they can't create a couple SEC/PAC-12 matchups. I think everyone wants to see those games.

one or the other doesnt want it? just one of those things where it's never been that way and it's not going to change unless we see it in the playoffs.
i agree it would be great to see.

Im guessing geography has a lot to do with it. These bowls might not like opponents being so far from one another because of ticket concerns from one fan base inevitably being a couple thousand miles from the venue.

Maybe that's why the "old" bowl tie-ins didn't have any SEC/PAC-12 matchups and it's somehow perpetuated all the way to 2015.

same discussion every year. people love to project 1 or 2 bowl results over an entire conference. if bama drubs osu today it doesn't mean the sec is that much further ahead than the b10, it means Alabama is better than Ohio State. same if OSU wins by 20....doesn't mean anyone was overrated or didn't deserve to be there, it just means one team was better than the other

people betting on ohio state because ole miss beat alabama and ole miss, in turn, were humiliated by TCU are the folks that help put up the shiny buildings in the middle of a desert.

i'm not a conference guy anyway. glad ole miss lost, wasn't unhappy to see miss st lose, certainly want the barn to get killed, and will be a huge iowa fan for 3.5 hours tomorrow.

personally i hope MSU and WISC win outright....i want people heading to the windows betting on the buckeyes and getting that line to -7

my thoughts have nothing to do with bowls. just looking at the entire body of work for the season. SEC this year was "down" compared to seasons where they were completely dominant while other conferences like P12 seem to have improved. I suspect it's a one year "blip" but time will tell.

Typically when Bama plays in these big games that matter...you take the Tide...no matter the spread

SEC is the best from top to bottom, but motivation is always key factor in bowl games. Here's how I have the conferences rated in order in terms of average overall power rating:

SEC = 82.29
PAC12 = 80.42
Big12 = 79.7
Big10 = 75.57
ACC = 74.86
AAC = 66
MWC = 63.83
CUSA = 60.54
MAC = 58.31
SBC = 52.91

Obviously, really happy that Mississippi State lost as I have my Georgia Tech sweatshirt on as the Yellow Jackets beat both the Bulldogs in the SEC this year.......As I said after that Tech-UGA game it was first time I remember thinking in a long time that Georgia Tech was simply the better team (they were pushing UGA around physically most of the game) although they needed some help at the end from Richt in part due to a fishy 14 point swing where the whistle should have been blown although GTECH still overcame that..

All that said, the SEC is still the best conference...........Their resume speaks for itself with all the national titles and the players they send to the NFL (where talented players get paid to play)

After Wisc and MI St win vs one of better sec teams and one of best b12 team

if Osu can pull the upset , B10 probably best conference this year . What a shocker and it shows you how
the media , analysts and espn know very little about the sport or how to evaluate teams .

at this point anyone that believes media hype is a fool , they just getting played for the $ angle , that is all they care about , integrity , accountability and accuracy no longer matter at all . They turned this great game into all about the entertainment dollars .

I feel bad for the players , most are just meat and will end up without a degree and poor . You got to respect schools like Stanford , ND , navy, PSU that won bowl games and graduate 90% of their players, BC too for making it to bowl game and having the 90% grad rate . Their players are the ones that will make out , outside of the 15-20 players drafted high in 1st and get their 2nd contract . Just no regard for players future today , from their school , coaches and the big media players

There is absoolutely ho way that the Big 10 could possibly qualify as the best conference. No way. The Pac 12 private schools (USC and Stanford) has no realy problems handling their Big 10 opponents. The Big 10 has already lost 4 bowl games. That is not the best in the nation. Not by a long shot. Some still think that the 4 loss SEc is still the best. Not quite. The SEC West is a phony. LSU, both Mississippi's and Auburn lose. The SEC East has done better. Wins for UGA and South Carolina. The fact is that there probably is not a best conference. If anyone qualifies, it will be the Pac 12, but that is still in the air.

It's still hard to ignore the fact that ESPN has twiddled around with the SEC West's ball sack all season in calling them the best division in football, only to have them go 2-3 in the bowls so far.

Comes down to OSU and Bama game IMO

im im not saying they are the best , maybe I said it wrong but one could reasonably argue they deserve to be . Big game tonight. Stanford and USC wins weren't vs the conferences top 3 teams

Its really as close to "parity" as any time in the last 10 years. Everyone has fallen into a pack.
