SEC Hits A New Low In Scheduling

The SEC, notorious in scheduling cream puffs, hit a new low today. They decided that both Notre Dae and BYU would be considered Power Five teams and scheduling them would cover the requirement that each SEC team play at least one out of conference power team a season. So what is wrong with that you might ask? It is the third team that they gave power 5 status to. Army. Thats right. ARMY, who has not defeated Navy in 15 years. That Army.

Even Florida would schedule a roadine at Army. How chicken s**t is this? I guess the SEC finally reasalizes that it is NOT the best onference around. Anhy SEc team that schedules Army as their Power 5 non-con opponent should be immediately dismissed from consideration for the playoffs no matter what their record turns out to be. How emarraseing this must be for Clover and all of the SEC followers in here who thought that they had the best conference ever. I can see it now. Auburn University has scheduled Army to open the 2023 season in Dallas. Auburn will arm two Combat Divisions as payment for playing the Cadets. Does ANY SEC fan want to try and defend this?

Since my friend BD mentioned my name in his post as being embarrassed by the SEC...I haven't been embarrassed with SEC Football since I was a kid...long time ago.

The SEC plays hard nosed, kick you in the mouth football...something I have always valued, and been proud of..

Until another conference wins more than one national title...AIN'T much of a worry/concern to me.

The beauty of college football is every team...every conference has a chance to shine each and every year.

My point is this. The SEC knows what lies ahead of them. No longer will they get an automatic pass into the NC game. They are now going to have to earn it by playing a legitimate schedule. Remember when SEC fans were saying that the SEC should have three teams in the playoffs? Well let's see what happened. Alabama made it, and was eliminated in the semi's. Auburn, Ole Miss, Miss. State and LSU also lost their respective bowl games. The mighty SEC West 5 went 0-2 against the Big 10, 0-1 against both the Big 12 and ACC, and lost to Notre Dame.

So the SEC reacts by allowing their conference to schedule games agains against the Army and allows those games to count as non-con Power 5 games. That is absolutely reprehensable and inexcusable. Not one of you SEC homers in here can defend that action. All you can do is rant about how good the SEC WAS. Not IS, but WAS. Friends, those days are over. The Pac 12 has passed the SEC. The Big 10 is gaining ground on them. I DARE anyone in here to defend this action. Forget about the usual SEC rhetoric. Obviously the SEC West teams are not that difficult to beat at all, if they schedule decent non-con competition. We know that all of that is either past history or BS. Stick to the point. Tell me why the SEC should make such a terrible ruling. Defend this ruling or accept the fact that the SEC is no longer the dominant conference in College Football. Are they good? Absolutely. Could they dominate any other Power 5 Conference. Not a chance. Not any more. The offenses are way too fast for the plodding SEC teams. Bielema is crying about the "no huddle" offense again. Saban still does not know how to defend it. Giving up 44 points to Auburn last year proves that. Sorry guys.

Better be some damn good coaching out west cause the SEC took a record setting amount of the top 100 high school players this year. no matter how bad you want it to be true It's still not even close. I'd argue the gap between the SEC and the rest is actually getting larger.

Since 1991 the Pac 12 has zero national titles while in the same time the SEC has had FIVE DIFFERENT TEAMS win one. It's not debatable. Big 12 is probably second best conference. We can debate that maybe.

I agree CP. The gap between the conferences has shrunken somewhat, but the SEC is still the best conference getting the most blue chip recruits. Nobody can declare they are best and convince me of it if their conference isn't recruiting better. And the Pac-12 isn't doing it on the scale of the SEC. Right now my strength of conferences go SEC, Pac-12, Big 12, Big 10, ACC

Baylor is trying to make Incarnant Word a Power 5 opponent. But for some reason nobody's listening...

Is Florida playing Florida State every year okay?

They have been playing FSU for many years (home & home); It is a classic in-state rivalry. Then, throw in a game against the Miami Hurricanes quite often to add to the Strength of Schedule....Ouch.

BD , its true that sos matters more today than ever before and it makes for great fodder from weeks 8-11 when the polls come out , but when alls said and done it still only matters for a handfull of teams. Last year sos only mattered for Ohio St , Baylor , and TCU with osu getting the nod mostly b/c of a ccg.

In the SEC Bama had a fairly weak non con sked but it didnt matter b/c they did what they had to do. Miss St ended with 1 loss but were behind baylor and tcu who also didnt make it , so i cant see how miss st could have made their sked tough enough to jump up to 4th.

So whichever SEC teams plays Army will probably be one of the 11-12 teams that wont be affected by sos anyway.

Do me a favor and stay out of my posts until you know what the hell you are talking about. Since 1991 the Pac 10/12 has had no NC's? How much money do you want me to take from you with that stupid remark. You rarely know what you are talking about and this is no exception. Stop acting like such a smart arse because you know nothing. On top of that, you are actually dumb enough to think that the Big 12 is better than the Pac 12. I guess ignorance must be bliss in here. Yo also failed to defend the SEC for alolwing ARMY to be considered as a power 5 team, and that is the ONLY thing that I have mentioned. Either defend that or stay out of my posts. I do not respect, nor need your opinions.

Ty, I see where you are coming from, but the fact is that neither you, nor anyone else in here can defend this action. That is all that I am saying. It is inexcusable and to be frank, chicken s**t. You guys love to do anything except admit the truth. That is why it is so easy to beat you guys. You do not accept the truth.

And he still didn't answer my question.

UF is playing Michigan in 2016 (and FSU). I wonder if that is okay w/ the Pac 12 fan.....

To be honest CB, UF hasn't left the state and done the road warrior thing for over 20 years in preseason. Just because they get FSU every year as a traditional rivalry that is far from cuttin' it in a SOS sense because I can think of several if not many others that also schedule big rivalry games however they also travel out of state quite a bit to fill out a much tougher OOC schedule. I've known this for years... that UF schedules softer OOC and keeps it close to home. It's only a matter of going back to see what I am talking about... no offense intended. Besides that, it's up to the playoff committee how they wish to rate these preseason games, not the conference leadership.

Which conference plays these teams during the 2015 season?

Grambling State, Georgia State, Eastern Washington, Weber State, Sacramento State, Northwestern State, Montana State, Nicholls State, UNLV, Idaho, Arkansas State, UMass, Northern Arizona, Cal Poly, New Mexico, Hawaii

Which conference plays these teams during the 2015 season?

New Mexico State, East Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Georgia Southern, Arkansas State, Eastern Michigan, Idaho, Southern Miss, Ball State, Troy, Louisiana Tech, Toledo, Middle Tennessee, Louisiana-Monroe, UConn, Central Florida, Western Kentucky,

I'm guessing I could list the ACC, Big 12 and Big 10 non-conference schedules for the 2015 season and they would look similar.
