SEC will distribute $31.07M per school in revenue, sources told @ESPN. League made record $455M past year..

Big 10 will be distributing 30.9 million for 2014/15. 2 years to go on old 2006 contract

from the Texas 24/7 site
Big12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby says estimates from earlier in the day were a bit low, and that full members are expected to receive roughly $27 million from Tier 1 and Tier 2 media rights distributed through the league. West Virginia receives 85-percent of that - roughly $23 million - as it transitions to the league.

The Pac-12 is in danger of falling behind as well. They own 100% of it's own network, which is probably good long term, but is that really the best option now? It's estimated they will be distributing perhaps 10 million less per school per year once the new Big Ten deal goes down and the SEC deal really takes off. IIRC, B10 Network distributes and extra 7-8 million, the SEC Network 5 million ( in year 11) The Pac-12 is 1 million in year 3 and they only see 250k because the other 750k goes to network expenses.

might want to wait until they disclose...
last year they were $2M/per team behind big10 ($21m vs $23m) so that will be the barometer. I wouldn't toss out the point that they made more money in ncaa hoops tourney in 2015 than any conference in history by going 17-5 and winning it all. something just shy of $40m (peanuts compared to football of course)

shedding no tears for any of the above

They are a little lower, but their only split 10 ways as opposed to a 14 way split for the other conferences.

The problem with the Pac 12 Network is it isn't on Direct TV and shows no sign of being on it anytime in the future, the same goes for Blazer games. Nobody is going to switch providers just so they can get the Pac 12 network.

The DTV issue is probably because they own 100% of the network. No partner means little leverage. The SEC has ESPN and the Big Ten has Fox. Thats a lot of weight to put on cable providers. Even so, DTV wont solve the Pac 12 problem. They've less than 20% total subscriptions as either the SEC or Big Ten. They need some markets and/or sell some equity.

At the big12 meetings , it looks like a network is being discussed for the future.

No it's Comcast, they have some type of exclusive rights deal and they set the price for the other providers and I guess Comcast and Direct TV hate each other, Direct TV refuses to pay what Comcast wants for the signal. Comcast has the same deal with the Blazers which is why Direct TV doesn't show Blazer games in the Portland market.

The point Im trying to make, that perhaps isnt hitting home is that SEC Network is actually the SEC ESPN Network. The Big Ten Nerwork is 49% Fox. Whats the difference when the Pac-12 reps walk into that boardroom alone vs being accompanied by ESPN/Fox/NBC/etc? When the big boys are an invested partner, a deal gets done. DTV and DN find a way to co-exist.

Still, Pac12 needs that deal and plenty more. So far they seem to be making lots of long term decisions (like looking to China for its bball exposure).

All that is good but when Comcast who holds the rights and Direct TV can't get along how does that help the network and the schools.

What's the sense of having a Pac-12 network when a large percentage of the people in the region can't even get it.

The SEC's overall revenue figure was $200 million more than the $252 million the Big 12 announced Friday. The SEC's financial growth in recent years has been nothing more than staggering. Since earning about $110.7 million in 2005, the conference's revenue has increased nearly 312 percent in the past decade.

I have always been an advocate of Oklahoma being a member of the Southeastern Conference. Perfect fit with Texas A&M, Missouri and Arkansas in the area. Can't believe Sooner officials haven't pushed for a move.
