This is why you get married in the summer! Although my first wedding was the same day at the Belmont Stakes, but that was a small concession. My second marriage was late July--nothing going on then except for regular-season baseball.

And I always swore I'd never get married in March for fear of anniversaries during March Madness.

Who the hell does that? I'm from Nebraska and everyone in this state bleeds Husker red. My friends just scheduled their wedding for the USC/Nebraska football game. Why would anyone put their friends and family in a situation where you must choose them, or football? There is no way I'm going to the reception even if there was a 20-foot projector screen displaying the game. It is just unbeilavable that people can be so stupid... both of them grew up in Nebraska and know that it is a religion here.

My question is, what team/sporting event would you not be able to miss for one of your best friends weddings? (you are not a groomsman, and you creativelly hinted that you did not want to be an usher)

:nohead:

Here's the checklist for scheduling a wedding:
1. Not during football season
2. Not during any major sporting event (ex: master's golf tournament)
3. Not during a holiday or 3-4 day weekend
4. Not at anytime during the week other than saturday night
5. Making sure you have open bar and food. Nobody wants to attend your lame ass wedding and not be properly compensated with alcohol
6. If you have single friends coming, make sure you have some hot bridemaids to correspond. Nobody wants to hang with a bunch of dirtbox skeezers.

Friends come and go but football has and always will be there for you. Besides, your friend will probably be divorced within a few years anyway.

I was engaged back in '88 when ND played Miami and my fiancee dragged me to her boss's wedding. Big problem for me. I drifted out to the bar, then to a downstairs bar, and finally over to the Legion Hall across the street to watch the game, arguably one of the top ten of all time. She tracked me down, finally, but that was the beginning of the end of that relationship. Good thing for me.

South Bend-area weddings are usually held on the Navy weekend.
