Something about the P.O.W.'s that were rescued on CNN last night. Some quote like, "We were proud to serve him (the pres.)" Since when do we serve our president instead of our country? Are we moving backwards or what? I thought it was in England that they have kings and queens.

>instead of our country?

The country is her people... W is the people's President and the soldier's Commander in Chief...

We've always said serve our country, not serve our president to mark the difference. You serve a king not a president. Same reason Washington was made president rather than king.

W is the people's President

This is a joke, right? W is the furthest thing from this. If anything he is the Corporate President.

kaya man,

For whatever reason... The guys & gals serving in the US Military really and truly 'love' W!

Go figure...

costa rica is not yet an american territory.....but,we are working on it.....

that would be a terrible tragedy for many americans living in costa rica....given the unfavorable extradition laws in costa rica..a great place to hang out...and aviod the long arm of the u.s. government ...eh,guys

The opinions of the military notwithstanding, the remark comes off as imperial and slavish.

After all, wouldn't you expect this attitude from the military? Why would they feel the need to state this?

I read about 1.5 years ago that the US Military was spending more $$$ to make sure that EVERY GI voted and that their vote would be counted in their Home State.

That's GOOD NEWS!!

scphincter,

If you think that to hide is the only reason to be in Costa Rica then you don't know anything about the country.

That's true but then again you could buy yourself a new identity in most of Latin America any way.

Many countries around the world no longer extradite criminals to the US because of capital punishment laws.
But the fact that the US Coast Guard frequently enters CR waters and that there have been "interventions" by Black Hawk helios (supposedly DEA) wouldn't make a fugitive feel any safer, law or no, someone here as little respect for sovereignty.

RFC.
I never said that, I only said they apparently like Bush unlike the hate most had for clintoon. What clintoon allowed in Samolia and to the USS Cole is unforgivable.
