Spread---you can make it so you basically win $35 no matter who wins.........by placing a tad more on the favorite.

exactly,

besides, you are splitting hairs because even if it is only a small profit on 50% of attempts (which it isnt) it is still worth while....

thats the point...

..........and were only talking about ONE scalp at a ONE DIME limit!

Think about this.........you wager $1100 to win $1000 on a game.

You win 55% of your bets on 100 wagers placed..........thats a profit of $5500 after taking the vig into consideration........55,000 minus 49,500 equals $5,500.

So your average profit per game wagered was $55!!!

THINK ABOUT THIS.......YOU JUST HIT 55%(NOT EASY), and you wagered $1,100 per game and you made $55 per game!!

So to me, making $55++++ per scalp with basically no risk has looked pretty damn inviting to me over the years........especially when one can sometimes find numerous scalps in a day.

SS and Fish are dead on right ... I can regularly find 6 - 8 scalps a day, get good money on each side and get a good level of profit but they dont last long ... nowadays its a technology war :)

A situation like this is good to improve your price. Say you like -155 and want to risk $500. Instead you can bet $1500 @ -155 and bet back $615 @ +162.

Now you still risking $500 but your price is now -141.

Sure, scalping reduces long term profit because one side is usually the correct odds, but if you have a bankroll you can really improve your price when scalps are available or you can bet something before it moves.

Just for the record, there plenty of scalps out there in the last 8 hours.

Thats fine and highly respect SBR(knowing both John and Bill personally), but remember, that is just one or two individuals opinions.

In my personal opinion, the VERY BEST thing an individual can do for onesself is by learning as MUCH as you can about a particular book from MANY different outlets(forums, friends, etc., etc) and/or actually playing at the book themselves(never risking more than they can ever afford to lose).

The more you post about scalps now the less will be left in the future. Every year it gets harder and harder to find them. 6 years ago scalping was the way to go. These days there is a better chance that the book will cancel your bet and say line error. The whole industry is starting to suck.

it certainly isnt rocket science.... I have a tough time understanding the naysayers.... :ughhh:

surely most on this forum could benefit from an extra 70$... no?

Using the BREAKEVEN/+$70 method per $1,000 wagered on each side in last evenings game.............the scalp brought home the $70, as the underdog Steelers came away with the upset victory.

Wow it must have been real real good 6 years ago if it's 'hard' today.

It was just ridculous 6 years ago! Scalps were abundant all over the place. I got kicked out by VIP for scalping back than. The douchebag over the phone with the accent was so stinking mad at me. I thought he was going to ring my neck through the phone. I beat them for awhile on scalps on college football and tennis. He was pretty much an ass though because back than i was addicted to online crack jack so i would have given it all back.

Scalping is really neat when you want to complete rollovers for bonuses.

I can easily complete a 10X rollover in a week and never risk more than 1% of my bankroll at anytime (and sometimes, I am risking nothing)
