A college basketball coach tells his friend that he's going to destroy a team tonight and there's a line on the game and you get wind of this.

Would you bet a large amount on that game just because of that?

This is all hypothetical of course. :smoker2:

depends on the team and coach... if coach K, said he was going to destroy southern, and say he said the starters were playing the whole game, no matter what.. then you would have something........ however if the southern coach, said he was going to destroy duke.. well that would be laughable..

Hypothetically, I would consider the source and wager accordingly.

Of course, this conversation was entirely hypothetical.

Hypothetically, what team or what conference or what tournament are we talking about? Hypothetically of course.

Coaches would never say such a thing in the first place. They also take the Meek appraoch to any game by giveing the opponet credit for something that sometimes they dont do very well.
But if Kelvin Sampson of the Oklahoma Sooners told me that he is worried about the first round opponet in the NCAA i would tend to believe that !
Which he is !!

It's not like he's talking to the press here.

I'd hammer it. Happened to me once, a well respected coach said he was going to put something on his opponent that history would not forget. Of course once I am down for the max all over town the guy ends up having to close the concession stand and the batting tee breaks. Ended up being no action....

Fat Tony

Well if the "Coach" was talking to you and you only, and said that i would have to look at the game like well i KNOW that the Starters are going to play the FULL game and they will RUN up the score if possible.
Now with that being said lets use DUKE for example. The line is high in the first place, the wiseguy early money is on the Dog. So if Duke was the Play you would already be getting bargain to the number. So i would have to make a Big bet on this team if i could BEAT the orginal oepner to the game.

I once got info from a friend who owns a restaurant in Dallas. This was ten years ago. The coach for Missouri told my friend not to worry about us not blowing this team out and they ended up winning and didn't cover the 8. That's why I'm leery when I get this kind of info.
