speaking of blackjack....had a friendly dealer give me a push on a losing hand yesterday downtown on freemont street...soft 19 vs her 20 and she just gave me a tap-tap and kept on going....I had a bet out for her on that hand and had been periodically been giving her some tip love as I was doing ok...
other than the crowd, downtown bj is so much better than most other places....one guy at my table realized after playing (terribly) for about 20 mins that the dealer was taking cards or standing based on a set of rules vs. based on what everyone at the table had.....he was in for a long week (from Ontario, Canada)...

yeah, you are prob right kidman.....I wouldn't have even suspected that she was hooking me up if it wasn't for how friendly/appreciative/enthusiastic re: the tips she was....it was only a $1 tip was betting $15 - $50ish per hand but I was tipping pretty consistently when/while winning so it possible she wanted to keep it coming...not sure if they pool tips or not there (4queens)
Played a fair amount down in Panama, they tried to pay me at least 15 times on a push, tried to let me push another 10 on a loss, and tried to take my money 10+ times on a win/push. Apparently they can't add down there. I never took it though, I feel that is bad karma.
On a side note I saw consistently the worst play I have ever seen down there. Crazy shit, hitting 17 vs dealer 6, doubling hard 12s, surrender vs a dealer 5...wild.
Saw a guy stand on a soft 16 LOL. Funny thing was he hit the soft 15, drew an ace, and then stood pat. wtf

yeah, I was worried about that Kidman when the girls sitting next to me started whispering right after it happened...she swept up the cards pretty quick as I remember trying to recount myself as they were taken to see if maybe i made a mistake...prob wasn't a big enough bet that they would have created a scene for if they caught it
last trip the guy at first base at one table I was at was counting for sure. Seemed like he knew all the dealers (not just the one at our table) and that they were rooting for him. I was shooting the shit with him and doing ok myself (not as well as he was) and then saw him at the cage. He told me that he was a did this for a living and was a dealer and to come see him but I didnt catch where he said to be honest. We were playing at the Silverton but I imagine he dealt somewhere else...surprised no one said anything with his bet variation (it was single or double deck too).
50 cents??? el cortez? i was planning on only staying for the day on sunday, so got a room there to leave my stuff and shower before heading home.....I had seen the casino so should come as no surprise, but wow those are some hotel rooms...i ended up staying monday as well and the downtown grand's rooms are actually pretty nice for the price
Thats why I stopped playing awhile ago, too many times dealers were killing one and 2 deck shoes after 2-5 hands played with plenty of cards available. I have talked to them about it many times, some would ignore it or play dumb and some said yes I can do that anytime after a certain amount of hands. It did not happen everytime but it happened more often than not. Higher stake tables had sharper dealers in my opinion and it was just frustrating to count and not play or have your play limited with a decent + count in your favor.
