West Virginia -4 - This team is coming off of an embarrassing loss at home to Texas and a loss at Oklahoma who is ranked #1 in the country. Huggins went on camera saying his team showed a very poor effort and had a lack of motivation in the last game vs Texas. In practice before the Texas game he threw the team out because of a lack of motivated players. Now I don't know why they suddenly acted like that and I'm not a psychologist but I would like to believe that after that home loss last game and Huggins "laying" into them that there will be players eager and willing to show their coach that they indeed still have the fire to come out and play every game with the upmost energy again. WV is one of the better teams in country on defense at 22nd nationally allowing 63 ppg, 5th in defending the 3 and rank inside the top 25 for rebounding on both sides of the court. Although they are very poor at shooting ft's they still average 82.3 ppg offensively and are ranked 24th in the country for it. Texas Tech is no slouch by any means but they do not rank inside the top 100 in any of the three major offensive shooting categories ppg, fg% or 3pt%. Defensively they sit at 88th in country holding teams to 67 ppg and 62nd in fg% allowed. Not too bad considering they are in 9th in the country according to CBS. Both guards are seniors for TT which will help them tremendously against a pressure oriented WV team but one key factor that could cause a problem is the recent injury to their centre Odiase who averages 9 ppg and 4.5 rpg. It will be their first full game without Odiase and this combined with the fact that I think WV players have something to prove their coach that they are still focused will be the factor in this game. I see a big bounce back game for WV which will be important if they wish to keep a chance at the conference title alive.
Good luck guys!
