Went 2-1 on the Friday Games

Here is the first pick and it will probably rub some people the wrong way since already 66% of the public is against this pick according to the spread.com. Here I like Memphis -9. Memphis comes in OFF an ATS Loss while Maryland comes in OFF a small, but still SU Dog Win. On top of that Maryland has covered 4 straight. These ingredients add up to a dangerous recipe from a situational standpoint historically. As expected the general public will turn on Memphis after the Northridge game they played on Thursday. This has already happened and this plays right into Vegas's hands. Prior to the Northridge game Memphis's last non-conference game was on the road at Gonzaga. In that game Memphis dominated the Zags. Some might question the toughness of Memphis because they play in a weak conference. However, they have won 60 games in a row (something around there) in conference play and I ask this question. Now I want you to think of your favorite basketball team all-time. Pick anybody. Can they do better than 60-0? Nobody can. Maryland is simply overmatched here and they will turn into the same inconsistent team we have all seen the last few months.

The next pick will take place in the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon. Call me a square on this pick, but I don't really care. Here I'm siding with 70% of the public according to thespread.com at this time. As you might have noticed I have played 3 Pac-10 teams the last two days and I am 2-1 ATS in those games. I still think this conference is being undervalued and I think that is the case here. Now get on your Yahoo Map. Do you realize that Seattle to Portland is only 174 miles and is only about a 3 hour drive? The crowd was almost all purple the other night. In fact, it looked like a home game for the Huskies. It was so ridiculous that at some points of the game when I wasn't watching the TV I could just go by the crowd noise to know whether the Huskies made a big play or not. The line is low IMO because Purdue is ranked #17 and Washington is ranked #15 and Purdue is OFF 4 Wins in a row and they won their Conference Tournament while also both teams have almost identical records. I think Washington is the better team on a neutral court and even better with a partisan Washington crowd.

The third pick will probably be against the grain also. Here I like UCLA +2.5 (-120), I think Collision and crew won't go down without a fight after 3 Straight Final Four Trips. Too much experience. It also doesn't hurt that they qualify in a situational sytem based on their last few games. It should also be noted that Alfred Aboya and Josh Shipp are also Seniors and have played in 3 straight Final Fours. It should also be noted that UCLA shoots 49% from the floor and a dangerous 40% from three as a team. UCLA played a Big East team earlier this year and it wasn't pretty as they destroyed Notre Dame by 26. I also found it interesting that Villanova has allowed their opponents to shoot 756 three-pointers over a 33 game period. This number was very high compared to the rest of the 300 Division I basketball games. This basically means they are guarding the paint and trying to force teams into perimeter shots. UCLA will roast them if they do that since Collison hits 39% from 3-Pt, Shipp hits 44% from 3-PT, Roll hits 51% from 3-PT, and Dragovic is 38% from 3-PT. Nova even allowed American the other night to take 31 3-Pointers and that was part of the reason they trailed at half. Nova dares you to take threes because they are afraid of getting burned inside. UCLA has too many sharpshooters if Nova tries this strategy that they have been using most of the year.

Love UCLA tomorrow. Public is on Nova by 85%, this is from SportsInsights, not Wagerline so it is actual bets, yet line hasn't moved.

I figured the crowd would jump on Nova. Quietly,
UCLA has won 6 out of 7, but I think Nova's bunker mentality on defense (guarding the paint and letting teams shoot alot of threes) will hurt them due to Four UCLA sharpshooters from 3-Point range. That and the 3 Seniors (Shipp, Collision, Aboya) who have been to 3 straight Final Fours.

I like UCLA a lot tomorrow as well. I think they win outright. They burned me against VCU, but I'm a lot more comfortable taking them as a dog than I am a big fave.

boy are you going to get roasted with UCLA....

Nova is far superior than UCLA...Far Superior.

UCLA lost every and is a very average team, AT BEST. Barely beating VCU. Come on ...don't all of a sudden thing VCU is some hot shot team...VCU has two good players on it but overall they sucked and UCLA should have lost.

NOVA played around in the first half of Thursday game and was down 10 a half only to literally run away in the 2nd half and win but almost as much..haha

The guard play is just going to FRY UCLA ...there is too much HOP in NOVA and they are too fast for a very slow mediocre UCLA team...

Honestly...I truly believe that this is a 10+ pt win for NOVA....Nova will be up 7 all game until they win by 14 or more

I see it 73-62 Nova

Thank you. Hopefully, it will be a public bloodbath on a few of the early games since I just saw the new percentages.

Right now 85% of the public is thinking the same thing as you. They could be right, but I'm siding with the public on Washington and going against the public with my Memphis and UCLA picks. Public percentages is only one of several factors though. BOL to you.

Love the Memphis play.

The reason I like Nova is because of the fact that it is a home game. How they were given these games there is a joke.

its called the economy

nova is at home because they have to fill up at least one stadium in this tourney

I went to the games in MIAMI today..

you could hear a roach fart in that crib..no one was there..how many folks in Miami wants to see ASU or Temple.....please....folks down here don't even go to see the heat.....

it was pathetic...

I truly believe they stuck NOVA at home because they had to be thinking about filling up stadiums somewhere...

Yep, that is part of my rationale for the Washington play. I'm hoping tournament experience by Collison, Aboya, and Shipp can overcome the Nova home advantage. I'm also hoping Nova dares UCLA to take perimeter 3-Point shots like the Wildcats have done this year. BOL to you.

I went to the Husky/Mississippi State game on thursday and the Huskies looked great and yes the Rose Garden will be rockin with Purple and Gold. Definite home game for them lots of fans making the 2.5 hour trip down I-5. Huskies will be movin on to the sweet 16 and will get revenge on the other Huskies that Brandon Roy and company lost to 2 years ago in the sweet 16. Huskies over Purdue by 10 pts. Good Luck>>>

Actually, streak is 61 straight conference games. Big frickin deal, Tulsa played second fiddle again this year, losing by about the same 30 points they did last year. Guess you weren't around when UCLA won 88 straight before losing to Notre Dame in January of 1974.

That was the point. Over a 60 game period John Wooden's UCLA teams could not do better than 60-0. BOL to you.
