Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jameis Winston and the Bucs make their preseason debut at Minnesota on Saturday night. Starting tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins is a player who, if productive, can help Winston as the rookie quarterback adjusts to the NFL. Seferian-Jenkins has struggled with drops in camp, but the Bucs believe he can be a big part of the passing game. He needs to start showing he can hold on to the football. -- Pat Yasinskas

i
Atlanta Falcons: The question for the Falcons now, once they return to the practice field, is how many healthy running backs will they have on the roster? Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman missed the exhibition opener against the Titans with hamstring strains. Then the third guy on the depth chart, Antone Smith, suffered a hamstring injury in the game. If all three are sidelined next week, Terron Ward, Jerome Smith and Michael Ford will have to split the running back reps in practice. -- Vaughn McClure

i
Carolina Panthers: The Panthers will evaluate the neck injury suffered by backup cornerback Teddy Williams in the second half of Friday night's preseason opener at Buffalo. Saturday is the first of consecutive off days for the players before resuming practice in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on Monday. The coaches will begin evaluating Friday's film, which will show that the offensive and defensive fronts struggled with the running game. -- David Newton
i
New Orleans Saints: The Saints return to the field for a late-afternoon practice Saturday in West Virginia. This should be a big week for their crowded cornerback competition -- especially if Brandon Browner and Delvin Breaux miss any time with injuries. Rookie Damian Swann had a big interception in Thursday's preseason opener, but he also committed two costly penalties. Swann could see more significant playing time this week as he tries to push Stanley Jean-Baptiste, among others, to move up the depth chart. -- Mike Triplett

Arizona Cardinals: Bruce Arians might just be carrying a piece of plywood with him Saturday so he can knock on it each time quarterback Carson Palmer looks like he's about to get hit. Arizona hosts Kansas City Saturday in its preseason opener and there are a lot of areas for Arians to focus on. He said there are about 20 players he's anxious to watch, on top of the injured veterans. -- Josh Weinfuss

i
St. Louis Rams: The Rams traveled to Oxnard, California, in the wee hours of Saturday morning and will be off until Monday when they start training with the Dallas Cowboys. In the meantime, they'll be monitoring left guard Rodger Saffold, who left the preseason opener with an apparent shoulder issue just four plays into the game. Coach Jeff Fisher indicated Saffold will be alright, but the Rams will continue to monitor him moving forward given his lengthy injury history. -- Nick Wagoner
i
San Francisco 49ers: The 49ers open their exhibition season at the Houston Texans on Saturday so the question is, how much will the starters play? Of particular interest is the status of inside linebacker NaVorro Bowman, who gave the impression he would not play much, if at all, against the Texans in what would be his first game since suffering that gruesome knee injury in the NFC title game in January 2014. -- Paul Gutierrez
i
Seattle Seahawks: The Seahawks have the rest of the weekend off, which gives the coaching staff two days to review tape of a mostly ugly preseason opener. It will also give the players a break after what was their first live contact of the summer. Before Friday, the closest thing the Seahawks came to that during training camp was last weekend's scrimmage, during which they hit to first contact but didn't tackle. -- Brady Henderson

i
Chicago Bears: The key player to monitor on Saturday is wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, who is day to day with a strained calf muscle. Coach John Fox said Jeffery will be in Bourbonnais the final two days of camp to receive treatment. Jeffery, who dealt with a lingering hamstring injury much of last season, is in the final year of his contract. Expect the Bears to be extra cautious with Jeffery. The Bourbonnais portion of Bears camp ends Sunday. -- Jeff Dickerson
i
Detroit Lions: The Detroit Lions got out of their first preseason game relatively healthy. Now the focus shifts to when they will get Joique Bell or Jason Jones. Bell has looked good running and could be activated off PUP before Thursday's game in Washington. -- Michael Rothstein
i
Green Bay Packers: After a day off following Thursday's preseason opener at New England, the Packers begin their longest stretch between preseason games with a Saturday afternoon practice. They don't play again until Aug. 23 at Pittsburgh, so expect this to be an intense week of practice before things gear down with the final two preseason games in a six-day stretch. -- Rob Demovsky
i
Minnesota Vikings: The Vikings will play their second game of the preseason -- and their first at home -- when they take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday night. Offensive coordinator Norv Turner said he wants the Vikings' first-team offense to play about twice as much as it did in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game. Watch for about 20 snaps or so from Teddy Bridgewater and company -- but not Adrian Peterson, who isn't expected to play in the preseason. -- Ben Goessling

i
Dallas Cowboys: The Cowboys have plenty to work on after their 17-7 loss to San Diego but Jason Garrett specifically mentioned tackling following the game. With their next game not until Aug. 23 and two practices vs. the St. Louis Rams on Aug. 17-18, the Cowboys figure to ratchet up the physicality of practice over the next few days. -- Todd Archer

i
New York Giants: The Giants will take a day off Saturday as they travel back from Cincinnati and their preseason opener, but some guys are going to find themselves in MRI tubes. Safeties Landon Collins (knee) and Mykkele Thompson (Achilles) and cornerback Trumaine McBride (hamstring) all left the game in the first half with injuries, and cornerback Jayron Hosley was shaken up and received treatment for what looked like a head injury. Considering corners Prince Amukamara (groin) and Chykie Brown (knee) were already sitting out this game with injuries, defensive back isn't a position of tremendous depth right now for the Giants, who return to practice Sunday. -- Dan Graziano

i
Philadelphia Eagles: With the preseason opener set for Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, the Eagles do not have open practice Saturday. The players will be on the field briefly to get some work, but there won't be much football. The schedule gets tighter with the games starting. After the usual postgame day off Monday, the Eagles resume practicing Tuesday at the NovaCare Complex. -- Phil Sheridan

i
Washington Redskins: The Redskins will practice on Saturday with the topic of the day being the tight ends. With Niles Paul (ankle) lost for the season and Logan Paulsen (toe) possibly joining him, the attention turns to two other players who were on the practice squad a year ago: Je'Ron Hamm and Chase Dixon. Both are more pass-catchers, as is Jordan Reed. The Redskins need run-blockers, otherwise their plan to run the ball heavily will be impacted. -- John Keim

i
Denver Broncos: In what figures to be a lively review with plenty of colorful adjectives, the Broncos' special teams units will get an earful Saturday and throughout the coming week. Why? They surrendered a 103-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, gave up another 46-yard kickoff return, muffed a punt and fumbled away a punt in the preseason opener. -- Jeff Legwold

i
Kansas City Chiefs: The Chiefs will test their starting offense against a live opponent in Saturday night's preseason opener at the Arizona Cardinals during the first quarter. The Chiefs would like to see more big plays from quarterback Alex Smith and a passing game that produced few last season. They will also get a look at a rebuilt offensive line that features three new starters from last year, including rookie center Mitch Morse. -- Adam Teicher

i
Oakland Raiders: Oakland coaches are spending the off day evaluating the roster after the Raiders' preseason opener Friday night. There could be changes to the starting lineup. Positions to watch include the right side of the offensive line and cornerback. -- Bill Williamson

i
San Diego Chargers: Players were given the day off Friday after San Diego's win over the Cowboys. The Chargers resume practice in preparation for the team's first road contest against the Cardinals next week. One area of focus for San Diego's defense will be tackling, as the Chargers allowed a handful of explosive plays by the Cowboys on missed tackles in the open field. -- Eric D. Williams

i
Houston Texans: Texans coach Bill O'Brien has not yet named a starting quarterback and also declined to reveal how he will handle playing time for Brian Hoyer and Ryan Mallett against the San Francisco 49ers in tonight's first preseason game for both teams. "We're looking for consistency regardless of who they're playing with, just overall consistency," O'Brien said this week. -- Tania Ganguli

i
Indianapolis Colts: The Colts will hold their day-before-game walk-through where they'll go over various game situations with different personnel. The players will just be in shorts and jerseys. It's also the final day at Anderson (Indiana) University for the Colts. They'll return to their facility in Indianapolis next week. -- Mike Wells

i
Jacksonville Jaguars: The Jaguars will have a light workout today after Friday night's preseason opener against Pittsburgh before taking Sunday off. After breaking down film of the game with the Steelers, coach Gus Bradley will have an afternoon news conference to recap how the first-team offense fared in its first live game test under new coordinator Greg Olson. -- Mike DiRocco

i
Tennessee Titans: As the Titans assess the film from their preseason opener, they are likely to recalibrate how they should be feeling about themselves. The first two weeks of training camp provided cause for them to believe the ship was turning. But the first-team offense and defense both made too many mistakes in the loss to the Falcons. The conversation is going to be about corrections when the Titans reconvene Sunday after having Saturday off. -- Paul Kuharsky

i
Baltimore Ravens: On Saturday, the Ravens suit up for their first full practice since their preseason win over the Saints. Baltimore can't be happy about its depth in the secondary after three Saints quarterbacks combined for 274 yards passing, two touchdowns and five passes of 20 yards or more. This is going to be a big week for safeties Anthony Levine and Brynden Trawick and cornerback Quinton Pointer to get back on track. -- Jamison Hensley

i
Cincinnati Bengals: The Bengals will be paying close attention to their trainer's room Saturday after several key backups suffered injuries in Friday night's preseason opener against the Giants. Running backs Rex Burkhead (neck) and Cedric Peerman (knee) left in the second quarter, and second-year cornerback Darqueze Dennard (groin) went down not long after. Peerman had knee issues last year, while Dennard missed time last preseason with a hip injury. -- Coley Harvey

i
Cleveland Browns: The Browns return to the practice field for the first time since they lost the preseason opener to Washington 20-17. The practice will be shorter than most, and at a slower pace, as coach Mike Pettine tries to help his players keep their stamina as camp continues. The key item to check today is how many Browns players return from injury. Wide receiver Terrelle Pryor is expected to return to practice on Saturday, but rookie running back Duke Johnson will not work. Johnson remains questionable for the second preseason game against Buffalo on Thursday. The team had 18 players not participate in the preseason opener. -- Pat McManamon

i
Pittsburgh Steelers: The Pittsburgh Steelers will arrive home early Saturday morning after playing a Friday night game in Jacksonville. The team will catch some sleep, then coaches will reconvene to review game video, evaluating how quarterback Blake Bortles got so many open looks. Players will have most of Saturday off. There is no media access that day. The team is back at it Sunday at Saint Vincent College for five more days of training camp. -- Jeremy Fowler

i
Buffalo Bills: The Bills will be off Saturday as they recover from Friday's preseason opener. When they return to practice Sunday, the focus of the quarterback competition will continue to be on Matt Cassel and Tyrod Taylor. They went a combined 12-of-16 passing for 94 yards against Carolina, minimizing their mistakes. EJ Manuel didn't hurt his cause: He went 4-for-8 and threw a 51-yard touchdown pass. -- Mike Rodak

i
Miami Dolphins: The Dolphins return to the practice field following Thursday's preseason loss to the Bears. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill will look to build off his near-perfect performance; he went 6-of-7 passing for 56 yards and a touchdown. -- James Walker

i
New England Patriots: The Patriots get back to the practice field Saturday, and it will be Tom Brady's first session since Monday. He feels like he has established a good rhythm in training camp and wants to keep momentum going, so he should get a lot of work in the session after playing just seven snaps in the preseason opener. -- Mike Reiss

i
New York Jets: After a day to evaluate the first preseason game -- a sloppy loss to the Lions -- the Jets return to practice with a lingering question about the quarterback situation: stick with rookie Bryce Petty as the No. 2 for another week or sign a veteran? -- Rich Cimini
