KEY STAT: Wigan have lost four of their last 28 league and cup matches

EXPERT VERDICT: Wigan, like Arsenal, have claimed three top-flight scalps on their way to Wembley and the victory at Manchester City in the last round showed how much Wigan have improved under Uwe Rosler. With a play-off place assured they rested players against Millwall on Tuesday and tackle an out-of-form Arsenal, who have leaked 12 in their last four.

RECOMMENDATION: Draw

KEY STAT: Nottingham Forest haven't won since February 8 – a run of 11 league games

EXPERT VERDICT: Neither QPR nor Nottingham Forest come into this clash in inspired form with their respective promotion bids beginning to falter as crunch time approaches. The play-offs seem a long way off for Forest who have endured a barren run of 11 league games without a win and Rangers may well take advantage despite their own recent mishaps.

RECOMMENDATION: QPR

KEY STAT: Dundee United have kept two clean sheets in their last 23 matches

EXPERT VERDICT: Rangers need to pick themselves up after their shock Ramsdens Cup final defeat to Raith on Sunday and they should be able to get through Dundee United's wobbling defence. However, the Arabs possess their own goal threat and should give a good account of themselves in this Scottish Cup semi-final at Ibrox.

RECOMMENDATION: Both teams to score

KEY STAT: Fulham have scored a first-half goal in nine of their 33 Premier League games

EXPERT VERDICT: Norwich will be desperate to get something at Craven Cottage with four frightening games to close their season but new manager Neil Adams is unlikely to start with a win. Saturday's victory over Aston Villa gave Fulham a massive shot in the arm and they can build on that to boost their own hopes of survival.

RECOMMENDATION: Fulham

KEY STAT: Sunderland have lost seven of their last eight games

EXPERT VERDICT: Sunderland still have enough games to get out of trouble but were dreadful in Monday's 5-1 loss at Tottenham and are unlikely to recover their composure in time for Everton's visit to the Stadium of Light. Everton have lots to lose and may be a little nervy but their extra quality in midfield and attack should see them home.

RECOMMENDATION: Everton

KEY STAT: West Brom have drawn five of their last six home games

EXPERT VERDICT: Tottenham still have faint hopes of finishing in fourth place but would probably need to win all of their remaining five games and may fall at the first hurdle. Winning games has been an issue for West Brom but they drew at home to Liverpool and Chelsea in February and can pick up a point against Spurs.

RECOMMENDATION: Draw

Woodbine Harness: Saturday 4/12 Analysis

Race 4 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet: LIGHTS GO OUT (4th)

Spot Play: DONAU (11th)

Race 1

(8) REAL ROCKER was a comfortable winner last week in the debut for trainer Gallucci. He faces the majority of the same competition this week. (4) RAVE ON draws well and has been excellent since arriving in Puddy's barn. He remains at the same level and gets Jamieson. (6) JAC SPADE enjoys racing off a helmet and a short field only increases his chances. He shouldn't be too far back from post six.

Race 2

(6) TURBO DONATO was excellent in the debut of lasix last start. He moves up in class, but showed last week that he had more to offer. (10) OAKLEA VICTOR will have to overcome post 10, but has been very consistent this season and continues to be a top candidate. (4) OZZY OZZY draws well and if he minds his manners, he's a top threat. He'll look for a turnaround effort after disappointing last week at even-money.

Race 3

(1) NOBLE FLIGHT gets the rail and was too far back last week. He should be better positioned this week after winning two back from the same post. (7) STRIKER ACE moves onto this circuit from the U.S. He shows quick speed over Pocono and The Meadowlands and likely will draw attention from the public. (5) DREAMFAIR BOGART continues to knock on the door in the past few weeks. He's an obvious choice for the triactor.

Race 4

(6) LIGHTS GO OUT was an easy winner last week and although she moves up in class, she certainly seems capable of the class jump. (2) TRUE REFLECTION gets the two-hole and enjoys being put in the race. She has a good record and likely will offer a low price. (8) WONDERFUL CHARM put forth a sub-par effort last week, but prior she had been racing at her best at a higher level. She'll look to rebound.

Race 5

(10) SMARTY PANTS drops in class, comes out of Moreau's barn and has excellent gate-speed. She doesn't like to win, but at this level she's hard to overlook. (9) DESIGNER GENES was a shut-down winner last start and has won three of her last four. (1) UNABATING gets the rail and hasn't missed the board yet this season.

Race 6

(4) MODERN LEGEND drops in class and hasn't been at his best. He draws better this week and faces an easier bunch. (5) NICKLE BAG was an open-length winner last start at this class. A repeat effort makes him a top threat. (6) STONEBRIDGE ON ICE continues to offer a price and has hit the board in his last three of four starts. He has back class and gate-speed in his favour.

Race 7

(1) BETTER GET READY went gate-to-wire last week and remains at the same level. (2) EVENIN OF PLEASURE draws the two-hole, comes out of Moreau's barn and is versatile. (5) SANTANNA BLUE CHIP exploded off cover last week en route to victory. He moves up in class, but proves he deserves to after that terrific performance last start.

Race 8

(1) COUGAR HALL came first-over last week and marched past the tempo-setter en route to victory. He faces many of the same horses again. (4) AVATARTIST is fresh off a series sweep at The Meadowlands and will look for his fourth straight win. He'll likely be the first leader. (8) MACHAL JORDAN has been racing at his best in his career in recent starts. He continues to offer a price and is certainly a top threat for the triactor.

Race 9

(6) HLDONTGHTTOYURDRMS looks like the best in this series based on what he did at The Meadowlands and Preferred event prior here at Woodbine. (8) CROSBY CLAM BAKE has only missed the board once this season, has been trotting credible miles and reunites with trainer Wallace. (2) WEST SIDE STORY draws inside and has won three of his last four. He has a patented late kick and likely will race from behind.

Race 10

(2) HES A SENSATION draws well and exploded last week in deep stretch en route to victory. He remains at the same class and looks like the horse to beat. (6) THE REV went a tough trip last week and will look for a cleaner journey. He has the speed and comes from top connections. (1) MISTER ICON gets the rail and raced very well last week considering he was 43-1. He's come a long way in a short time for trainer Riley.

Race 11

(8) DONAU has been racing well at this class and may offer a price. Jamieson gets the call this week, which leads to my selection. (5) STOMPIN TOM CREEK was locked and loaded last week at 13-1, but had to settle for second. He remains at the same level and may offer a price once again. (3) DRAIN DADDY draws well and has hit the board in four of his last five starts. He has excellent gate-speed and a top candidate in here.

Yonkers: Saturday 4/12 Analysis
By Matt Rose
DRF HARNESS

MEET STATS: 99 - 312 / $536.20 BEST BETS: 16 - 25 / $58.30

Best Bet: FOILED AGAIN (11th)

Spot Play: MACH IT SO (5th)

Race 1

(5) MISSISSIPPI HIPPY has raced better than his lines indicate in his last two and he's proven to be competitive with this type. (3) THIRTY TWO RED is back up in class off a solid attacking score. (4) SHOW ME UP drops a notch off

Race 2

(1) REAL NICE is still extremely unreliable but from this spot the millionaire can trip out. (6) HERE WE GO AGAIN was overmatched in the Levy; obviously he can make some noise against this group. (5) CONNERY BLUE CHIP never fired in his first off the claim; he's better than that.

Race 3

(7) ORILLIA JOE returns locally off three consecutive second-place efforts and he was facing better when last seen here. (2) RU READY TO ROCK had no chance last out; he's back inside tonight. (3) B N BAD was defeated at odds-on when last seen here.

Race 4

(1A) ITRUSTYOU showed he wasn't invincible last week when he yielded to pressure and folded up; he'll probably look to control the action again tonight. (1) CLEAR VISION gets post relief and he's overdue for a win. (3) FAT MANS ALLEY could save ground and shake free with late pace.

Race 5

(2) MACH IT SO was outbattled last week by a game and determined Apprentice Hanover, snapping his Levy win streak. He should stalk from this spot tonight and he's good enough to roll right by. (1) EASY AGAIN was left alone last out and cruised; obvious threat to repeat. (4) SAPPHIRE CITY fired from the outside post and was a good second last out.

Race 6

(5) JERRY'S BROWN GOLD was a good second last out in the slop; versatile sort faces no standouts here. (3) STATESMAN N is best here but he's missed some time. (4) SAFE HARBOR returns locally and he's beaten better than these in the past.

Race 7

(3) MONEY TWITCH A had zero chance from the eight hole in his local return; classy veteran can get it done from this spot. (1) SHARK'S LEGACY saved ground and finished decently last week; an on-the-board finish can be expected from this inside post. (6) RUSSLEY RASCAL N has been solid in all his recent starts.

Race 8

(4) DALLENBACH HANOVER has plenty of speed if Pierce elects to use it and that should put him in a good winning situation. (3) MACHAL JACKSON moves back inside and the O'Sullivan trainee is very logical from this spot. (2) ROLLWITHITHARRY kicked home nicely for second last week.

Race 9

(5) GAMBLER'S TALE had some pace at both ends of his mile last week and he faces nothing special here. (1) HYPNOTIST lands back inside off three consecutive eight holes and he has Tetrick driving; overbet? (3) ELECTROFIRE has a mighty good history here.

Race 10

(1) CASIMIR JITTERBUG returned to Yonkers and was an easy winner; repeats. (4) LAWGIVER HANOVER never really factored last week; he should be closer tonight. (6) MACHS BEACH BOY can be a closing threat for Lachance.

Race 11

(1) FOILED AGAIN was tested in the stretch last week and came through yet again; Burke-trained machine will head to the front and control these for the fourth consecutive week. (1A) BETTOR'S EDGE is also perfect in the Levy and completes this potent entry. (4) DANCIN YANKEE kicked home with plenty last week and this versatile veteran should land a good piece. (3) P H SUPERCAM put a scare into the Foiled Again followers last out; can he secure another pocket ride?

Race 12

(3) DOCTOR BUTCH didn't fire with his best while tracking live cover last week; Toscano trainee should be sharper tonight. (1) NOB HILL HIGH dropped and popped last out and now he lands back inside; big threat here. (7) ERLE DALE N has been sharp but this is a tough spot tonight; maybe he can rally for a piece.

Meadowlands: Saturday 4/12 Analysis
By Derick Giwner

Race 1 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool

Race 3 - $30,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Race 7 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

MEET STATS: 101 - 383 / $599.40 BEST BETS: 14 - 31 / $44.20

Best Bet: WINDSONG GOEGEOUS (1st)

Spot Play: CAM B ZIPPER (3rd)

Race 1

(6) WINDSONG GORGEOUS drops down to the basement claiming level and should win for fun. (4) BOILER BOB THE QB finds a good spot to flash some speed and sit the pocket behind the top choice. (8) ANDY BARAN arrives from Yonkers in form.

Race 2

(5) GOLDEN RECEIVER does his best work when he can get the early lead comfortably. I’m expecting a reasonable 26 3/5 or so opening quarter and the 61st win of his career. (6) DOVUTO HANOVER has really stepped up his game this year. Four-year-old has the ability to grind on the rim. (4) ALLSTAR LEGEND will be leaving and likely sitting the pocket.

Race 3

(4) CAM B ZIPPER jumps off the page in this spot. Driver Scott Zeron figures to give him an aggressive steer. (2) ALWAYS B MIKI is a promising young 3-year-old making his first start of the year. Callahan chose off the top one to drive, but that is likely with an eye towards the future. (3) TWIN B FAMOUS has some form and previous big track success on his résumé.

Race 4

(2) AT PRESS TIME posted a decent qualifier to prepare for his 2014 debut. Western Terror-sired colt doesn’t face any monsters. (5) CARD SHOCK was okay in his first start since November and could certainly improve. (9) BEST SAID scored at first asking but did appear to be ‘on a line’ in the stretch.

Race 5

(3) STALLONE BLUE CHIP responded nicely to sweep past the field for new driver John Campbell. This is a tough race with any in the field capable of winning, but this gelding gets a cozy post to work out another decent trip. (1) WILLY MUCHA went a nice mile to pull off the upset last time. He forms part of a Brad Irvine-trained entry. (6) SKY MCFLY has come around for trainer Ron Burke; very dangerous. (2) PEMBROKE DEWEY is hard to toss but winless on the year.

Race 6

(3) PRAIRIE JAGUAR took plenty of air and faded upon arrival. His best races have come on the lead and this looks like the right spot to gun to the front. (1) ASHLEY’S HUSBAND should protect position from the pylons and bring a strong effort. (7) WAKE UP PETER might be the one to beat in the final, but I see an off-the-pace trip for this second leg race.

Race 7

(6) MAJOR BELLE has been racing well all year and certainly knows his way to the winner’s circle. This gelding looks like a decent value play. (5) COLOSSAL gets a fair amount of class relief and figures to be forwardly placed. (3) GALLANT SEELSTER lured Callahan off my top choice, but he is typically loyal to this barn. Four-year-old is off a big mile at Philly and has a good chance.

Race 8

(3) OH MY JOEPA raced okay in his first start after a seven week hiatus. If he picks up live cover on Saturday, this gelding is very capable. (6) SHARK ON BOARD didn’t exactly impress me last week, but this field is hardly filled with strong options on the win end. (1) ATLAS ALLIANCE N should flash some speed and stay close to the action. (7) YACHT KING has raced well all year.

Race 9

(1) PIERCE stands a disappointing 0 for 17 this year. That said, he couldn’t ask for a better spot and has no excuses tonight. (4) ROCK OUT scored in his 2014 debut and must be used on all tickets. (7) ROCK FAME looks like a clear exotics threat.

Race 10

(2) YOU BET YOUR GLASS lured driver Jim Morrill off a Ron Burke horse, which doesn’t happen very often. This guy is getting class and post relief. (6) VOICE OF TRUTH got Callahan’s call over #1, who is dropping in class; interesting. (10) ALEX BULLVILLE hasn’t been racing as badly as it looks on paper. The last time he was in this class, he won from post 10. (1) HRUBYS N LUCK is another with a 10-hole victory when last seen racing at the C-2 level.

Race 11

(4) CAPTIVE AUDIENCE romped last week and keeps getting better. It would be hard to pick against him. (2) SUMMER SMACKDOWN finally seems to be trending upward. (1) SKY IS THE LIMIT rallied nicely between horses last time. (3) SCOTT ROCKS chased home the top choice most recently.

Race 12

(3) SING FOR ME GEORGE closed well from post 10 upon arrival. He adds Scott Zeron tonight and can improve. (4) CANE RIDGE will assume his usual spot on the lead and can certainly take this field wire to wire. (5) VERDAD & (7) UP UP AND OUT are both worth considering.

Race 13

I must admit that I have no opinion on this formless group. (4) TO BEACH HIS OWN displayed talent last year and has plenty of early speed. (1) BANGBANGKISSKISS draws better and can be involved. (7) JINS DRAGON qualified well behind Warrawee Needy.

Calder - Race #1 - Post: 12:55pm - Claiming - 7.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $10,500 Class Rating: 75

Rating: Golden DollarGolden DollarGolden DollarGolden Dollar

#6 TIZAWONDERFULLIFE (ML=6/1)
#4 YOU ES OH CLUB (ML=5/2)
#3 CALPULLEC (ML=4/1)

TIZAWONDERFULLIFE - After the contest aboard this animal on Feb 15th, the jock is going to be acquainted with the gelding much better. Is ranked at the top in earnings per race. A strong effort in this event can augment that bankroll. Faced tougher last time out at Calder. Based on Equibase class ratings, this is a weaker bunch, so I will put this horse on my list of top contenders. YOU ES OH CLUB - Have to give this gelding a shot. Ran a solid contest last time out within the last 30 days. Took a class drop in the last race at Calder. Morales keeps him at the same level in today's race. I think that's a good move. I like the case that this gelding's last fig, 71, is tops in this bunch. CALPULLEC - Paul brings this gelding back into a race rather than a workout. He knows his gelding is on top of his game.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 BE MY FRANKENSTEIN (ML=3/1), #1 SHARP JOHNNY (ML=4/1), #5 EXUBERANT SONG (ML=8/1),

BE MY FRANKENSTEIN - Should have at least hit the board in the last two months in a short distance event to be worth it at modest odds in a sprint. Speed ratings of 75/62/54 are started downward. SHARP JOHNNY - Hard to wager on at 4/1 odds after the last two efforts. EXUBERANT SONG - Difficult to bet on at 8/1 odds after the last two efforts.

#8 FABULOUS KID (ML=12/1)

KNOCK EM FLAT - This colt is in nice form, having run a nice race on March 27th, finishing first. For my money, a bullet workout is the best indicator of fitness there is. Look at that last one - 101.2. Very impressive. I like the way this colt's finish positions have gotten better with each start recently. A sign of a campaigner coming into top form. That 105 fig this colt notched in his last race tells me he's a key player this time out. SIX SPOT - I like to bet on this handicapping angle, a thoroughbred coming back off a nice effort within the last thirty days. This gelding is certainly on the improve with speed figures of 79, 88, 94 last 3 out. FABULOUS KID - Jock jumped on this colt's back for the 1st time on March 29th. Should know the horse even better today. Don't often see a positive ROI like +37. This jockey/conditioner duo has done well together over the last twelve months. This colt is in fine physical condition. Finished first on Mar 29th. Is ranked at the top in earnings per race. A dominant effort today will add to that bankroll. Carrying 6 pounds less this race. Trainer has him in a good spot.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 BOURBONIZE (ML=4/1), #5 RIVERS RUN DEEP (ML=9/2), #6 SHELTOWEE'S BOY (ML=9/2),

RIVERS RUN DEEP - Don't think that this colt has value at 9/2 in today's event. SHELTOWEE'S BOY - That was merely not a very good display in the last affair. I'm always a little shy about any thoroughbred that earns his biggest fig on an 'off' track.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - FABULOUS KID - That bullet move has this thoroughbred primed. Morning form should transfer well when the real racing begins. Getting my dough.

# 6 TRAIL OF SMOKE 10/1

# 3 YONAGUSKA BOY 2/1

# 2 TIZZAROO 6/5

I think TRAIL OF SMOKE is a competitive pick and is a strong value-based wager given the 10/1 line. Will almost certainly compete quite well in the early speed battle which bodes well with this group of animals. Ran a strong last race. May best this group here, showing quite good figures of late. YONAGUSKA BOY - Shows signs of the look of a profitable play, averaging a solid 75 speed figure which is one of the most favorable in this group of horses in this race. Reason to like this gelding as he has in the saddle one of the best jocks using winning percentages over the last 30 days. TIZZAROO - Is worth considering and may be a wager - strong speed figs (73 average) at today's distance and surface lately. Has a very solid record at the distance and surface, which makes me have to consider this gelding.

6½ FURLONGS DIRT GRADE II FOUR YEARS OLD AND UPWARD STAKES $200,000.00 PURSE

#6 WILD DUDE
#7 BIG MACHER
#2 WINE POLICE
#1 MONGOLIAN SATURDAY

#6 WILD DUDE has won half of his 8 career starts to date, sprinting at, or about, today's distance of 6½ furlongs on the dirt, is the pace profile leader , and has hit the board in four of his last five outings, including back-to-back-to back, "POWER RUN WINS" in his 2nd through his 4th race back. Jockey Rafael Bejarano, and Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer send her to the post ... they've hit the board with an impressive 67% of nearly 200 entries saddled as a team to date. Bejarano has been in his irons on 6 previous occasions, hitting the board in 5, winning three times, and guns for a "Grand Slam Win" this afternoon. #7 BIG MACHER, has hit the board in "POWER RUN FASHION" in five straight starts, winning twice in this recent streak of racing consistency.

#9 SCIP THE SKY (ML=7/2)

SCIP THE SKY - That last effort must not have been too hard on this filly for her to be able to race again so quickly. We have lots of early speed with this mount. She could wire this field. Trainer Sancuk moves this horse to a lower level to face a lower rated field. Look for a solid effort this time out. Another way to determine class is earnings per race. This thoroughbred has the topmost in the bunch. I think she'll be close at the finish line.

Vulnerable Contenders: #7 VICTORIOUS SECRET (ML=3/1), #6 SWEET SOPHIE (ML=4/1), #8 ROXY'S RED RACER (ML=5/1),

VICTORIOUS SECRET - Morning line of 3/1 make this horse a pass by my standards. SWEET SOPHIE - I'd like to see more conducive recent showings with morning line odds of 4/1. ROXY'S RED RACER - Just can't play this steed. Didn't show me anything last time out or on Feb 21st. When examining today's class figure, she will have to record a much better speed figure than last out to compete in this dirt sprint.

# 6 SANDBAG 2/1

# 5 HUG A TREE 15/1

# 3 FLASHY EYED PEARL 5/2

I've got to go with SANDBAG. Karamanos has strong numbers that point to this mare to be a strong contender. Must be considered based on the quite good speed rating posted in the last contest. Appears to have a respectable class edge based on the recent company kept. HUG A TREE - Rodriguez has a winning percentage of 23 over the last month. Has very strong early speed and will most likely fare admirably versus this group. FLASHY EYED PEARL - Has to be given a chance against this group of horses in this race displaying formidable numbers lately and an average speed rating of 71 under similar conditions. Recorded a respectable speed fig last time out.

RACE #3 - AQUEDUCT - 2:18 PM EASTERN POST
7½ FURLONGS DIRT FOUR YEARS OLD AND UPWARD STARTER ALLOWANCE $50,000.00 PURSE

#5 SCHOOLYARD DREAMS
#1 BARRISTER JIM
#2 GROOMEDFORVICTORY
#4 TIZMAS

#5 SCHOOLYARD DREAMS is the overall speed leader in this allowance field this afternoon racing at, or about, 7½ furlongs on the dirt, and has produced "POWER RUN PERFORMANCES" in four straight starts, hitting the board in three, including back-to-back "POWER RUN WINS" in his last two starts. Jockey Jose Ortiz was in his irons for those two wins, en route to a +198% return on investment, and is back this afternoon for his 3rd ride, gunning for a "Hat Trick Win!" #1 BARRISTER JIM is the pace profile leader, and like my top pick, also comes off back-to-back "POWER RUN WINS" in his last two starts.
