Today's FREE winner is coming from Los Angeles as I am all over the Dodgers at home to continue to beat up on the Cubs.

The Cubs are sinking fast and it doesn't look like it's going to get any better for Chicago. I'm playing the Dodgers to make it three in a row over Chicago today.

Los Angeles won Thursday's game 7-2, and then got a great pitching effort on Friday and won 2-1. Today look for the Dodgers to put up some runs and win this one with ease.

Chicago is on slides of 15-39 as a road 'dog, 8-22 on the road against winning teams, 3-9 overall and 1-6 against the N.L. West. The Cubs are 0-4 in Ted Lilly's (9-7, 3.42 ERA) last four road outings, including on Monday in San Diego when he blanked the Padres on four hits over six innings but San Diego still prevailed 4-1.

Lilly faced the Dodgers back on May 29 and allowed just one run on four hits in seven innings of a 2-1 Chicago win.

Lefty Charlie Haeger (0-1. 3.86) goes for the Dodgers, making his third career start after giving up three runs in seven innings of a 3-2 loss to the Cardinals on Monday. But the pitching is not the reason we're playing the Dodgers. Los Angeles has won seven of the last nine meetings and five of the last six in Los Angeles.

The Dodgers are on runs of 62-27 as home favorite and 23-10 at home against southpaws. Play Los Angeles at home in this one.

Milwaukee Brewers @ Washington Nationals
Play: Over 9.5

Get ready for another slugest tonight in D.C. as the Brewers and Nationals seek their sixth straight OVER.

One of the National League's top young pitchers will be going for the Nationals in the middle game of the three games series Washington's John Lannan has struggled in his last three starts going 1-1 with a 6.06 ERA and topping the total to the tune of 2-0. However his body of work for the 2009 season has been solid. Lannan is 8-9 with a 3.68 ERA and he's been "lights out" at home. The former Washington Huskie is 5-1 with a 1.68 ERA. Not surprisingly in games Lannan has pitched the OVER is 16-8 and 9-4 to the high side at home. Lannan is the classic soft-tosser. He's got just 67 strikeouts on the season and his game is all about finding the strike zone and staying there.

The Nationals will also need some innings from Lannan. The less you use the Nat's the better for them. Washington's ranks dead last in all of baseball. Opposing batters are hitting .263 and the Nats pen has a 17-33 record.

Mike Burns gets the start for the Brewers tonight and his work this campaign has been less than stellar. Burns is 3-4 with a 5.38 ERA. He like Lannan has been scuffed up in his last three outings going 1-2 with a 5.17 ERA. Burns has also been susceptible to the long ball surrendering nine big flies in 45+ innings. That could spell trouble against the likes of Adam Dunn who has hit 32 homeruns on the year and nine since the all-star brreak. Ryan Zimmerman is also licking his chops for a chance to face Burns. Zimmerman is hitting .300 on the season with 24 roundtrippers.

The two teams are 5-0 vs.. the OVER this year and it's tough to buck that trend in this situation. Prince fielder and Ryan Braun are still bashing and with Dunn and Zimmerman posing a 1-2 power combination another OVER should materialize tonight. While I suspect that Lannan will be better at home there's still that control issue. That could prove costly against a Brewers team that is undergoing a roster transformation but stll remains potent. J.J. Hardy was sent to the minors, Bill Hall was traded to Seattle and Milwaukee has a wavier claim in on Doug Davis. While the faces may change, this team can still mash.

The suggested play tonight is on the OVER as the Nats and Brewers play another edition of homerun derby.

GAME: Pittsburgh Steelers @ Washington Redskins Aug 22, 2009 7:30PM

PICK: Pittsburgh Steelers

REASON FOR PICK: Jim Zorn was one of four new head coaches heading into the 2008 season and he led his team to an 8-8 record. One could argue that was fairly good. However, the other three first-time head coaches (John Harbaugh of Baltimore, Mike Smith of Atlanta and Tony Sparano of Miami), all led their team's to 11 wins in the regular with all three of them reaching the postseason. Zorn won his NFL coaching debut in last year's HOF game (30-16 over the Colts) and then won his next two games as well, 17-14 and 13-10. However, the 'Skins would lose their final two preseason games 47-3 and 24-3. Note that after that HOF game, Zorn's team scored just 36 points over the final four games of the preseason. Washington opened this year's preseason by losing 23-0 at Baltimore, getting held to just 11 FDs (1-of-11 on 3rd downs) while rushing for only 56 yards (on 19 attempts for a 2.9 average) with three QBs combining to complete 15-of-29 passes for 140 yards (0 TDs / 1 INT). The Steelers, last year's Super Bowl champs, won a rematch of that game with the Cards on August 13, 20-10. The Steelers played at Washington on a Monday night last season and physically dominated the 'Skins. Washington was held to 221 yards and 13 FDs in that 23-6 loss, converting 3-of-15 third downs and 0-2 fourth downs. With a menagerie of starters and scrubs in this game, don't expect the Redskins to have much more success this time around. Even with "Big Ben" sitting this one out, let's take the Steelers

Today's Complimentary Selection

Absolutely brutal call with the Titans yesterday as the Cowboys come out big and destroy Tennessee.

I’m headed out to the NFL’s preseason where I’m taking the Bills on the road at the host Packers.

Coming into this game the Packers have gone just 6-7 ATS over the last 13 preseason games under head coach Mike McCarthy.

On the other side, the Bills have been nothing but a money maker in the preseason.

Buffalo has covered in 6 straight games on the road and have not lost a preseason game when installed as an underdog, going 9-0-1 ATS their last 10 games when catching points.

Buffalo will cover once again on the road as it cashes in at the Packers in this one.

Texas Rangers at Tampa Bay Rays

The Rays are a sure bet when favored by $1.50 or more, going 64-15 in that role since the start of the '08 season. That includes a 38-8 record at home when priced lower than $1.75. Texas' scoring output drops to a hair above four runs per game on the road and they'll have a hard time solving Tampa starter Matt Garza, who has posted a 3.21 ERA in 13 starts at Tropicana Field this season.

Play on: Tampa Bay

Free NFLX Play - August 22nd

#415 CAROLINA (+) over Miami at 7:30 PM EST

Off Monday night's loss in the Big Apple, I'm going jump all over Carolina plus the points here.

According to my NFL Pre-Season database, game two exhibition guests have produced a profitable 93-64-5 ATS record provided they enter off a straight up loss in their opener. If our road team is matched up against an opponent that enters off a straight up win, this system tightens up to a remarkable 46-29-1 ATS. Finally, with those two parameters applied and our "play on" team off a blowout loss of seven points or more, this technical gem improves to a juicy 32-12 ATS! Carolina fits the general situation and both special parameters!

As a preseason underdog, Carolina has cashed 18 of its last 30 battles. The Panthers looked pretty bad offensively against the Giants in their last game. Watch Carolina quarterback Jake Delhomme crank things up a notch and lead the Panthers to the endzone early. Take Carolina plus the points. Thank you and best of luck, Tom Stryker.

Game: Philadelphia Phillies @ New York Mets

(961) Philadelphia Phillies -1.5

(Listing Happ and Redding)

The Mets have had a horrible, injury filled season and things only got worse when they lost their last healthy star David Wright to a concussion after being hit in the head by a Matt Cain pitch. The Phillies are gearing up for another World Series run and they have played excellent on the road this season where they are 36-20. That is +$1755 for a $100 bettor who wagered on their road games. The Phillies have also won the games they are supposed to win as they are 10-1 in their last eleven games against a team with a losing record. Philadelphia sends J.A. Happ to the mound and he has pitched outstanding this season. Happ is 9-2 on the season with a 2.66 ERA and has pitched even better than that recently posting a 2-0 record with an ERA of only 1.19 in his last three starts. The Mets counter with Tim Redding making a spot start. Redding is just 1-4 this season with a 6.53 ERA and an even worse ERA of 8.59 in his last three starts. The Phillies have one of the most prolific offensive lineups in baseball while the Mets depleted lineup is one of the worst. The Phillies have also won five straight games between these two teams. No reason that should change. Play on Philadelphia on the runline.

Game: San Diego Chargers at Arizona Cardinals Aug 22 2009 10:00PM

Prediction: San Diego Chargers

Reason: Ai Simulator 3* graded play on San Diego as they face Arizona set to start 10:00 EST. Supporting this graded play is a system that has gone 48-22 for 69% winners since 1999. Play on dogs or pick after 1 or more consecutive losses against the spread, in the third week of the preseason. Here is a second supporting system that has produced a mark of 28-9 ATS for 76% winners since 1999. Play on dogs or pick off an upset loss as a favorite in the third week of the preseason. SD is a solid 9-1 ATS (+7.9 Units) off a home loss since 1993; 23-8 ATS (+14.2 Units) after playing a game at home since 1993.

*1 49'ers-2.5

Raiders Coach Tom Cable has a lot more on his plate then just this upcoming game. Word is Raiders assistant coach Randy Hanson has hired an attorney and is expected to cooperate with police after Head Coach Tom Cable allegedly broke his jaw earlier this week in a scrap during practice which will result in felony charges against the Raiders head coach.

The effect this incident could have on such a young team is huge. It may be showing already this week in practice. This week the 49'ers and the Raiders sqaured off in a couple of practices which were completely dominated by the San Francisco 49'ers; and mainly by their defense. Defensive Coordinator Greg Manusky has to be very pleased with his units showing this week against the Raiders. Niners veteran corner back Nate Clements said it was the best defensive practice he'd ever been a part of. He intercepted 3 passes when the two teams faced off, Dre Bly and Diyral Briggs also snatched two passes from Raiders QB's.

Both Raider QB's Jamarcus Russell and Bruce Gradowski struggled. Gradowski threw two picks in the red zone and Jamarcus Russell threw back to back picks in the red zone drill as well. This really revved up the 49'ers defense after Raiders players were talking smack in the beginning of practice. For the rest of the practice the Raiders offense was dead silent as they got back in their huddles before the next snap. While all this was unraveling Al Davis sat in his golf cart dead silent as well. After practice Raiders players were humbled to say they were flat out dominated.

The 49'ers QB's didn't throw any interceptions and were said to have a solid practice besides a couple deep routes being off target because of being forced around the pocket. We really like the QB rotation for the 49'ers here in preseason with Alex Smith, Shaun Hill, and Damon Huard; who completed 14 of 18 passes for 2 TD's and 0 turnovers as a group against Denver in the 17-16 loss in their opener. As far as experience goes they have the definite edge here over Oakland.

This is Mike Singletarys first full season here as Head Coach and we expect him to have these guys plenty motivated for this game and use the energy form their great practices this week to feed off of coming into this game. The 49'ers were a dismal 2-5 ATS last year before Mike came in and he went 5-3-1 ATS to close out the season.

This line is available for -2.5 at almost all of the Vegas books and a good amount of the offshore books right now; so try to shop and find the best line available.
