Cal - 33

NMSU lost on Sat to Ark 63-13.Expect more of the same here as Cal is playing their only home game in first six games and just faced the wishbone.Cal is also a better squad than Ark is.This will get ugly!!.

Prophet,

My only concern about this game is whether Cal will lay the wood AGAIN after doing so last week also. But great point about the only home game in six....They have a brutal schedule out of the chute.

WC,
Cal has had the benefit of preparing for the bone attack all summer for its opener against a much better airforce team.now they face an inept NMSU squad who just faced an average Ark team.Cal is on a mission this year and will put up some gawdy numbers in this one.NMSU will be lucky to score in this game.

I tend to agree with you about Cal this week. Having abit of a hard time pulling the trigger with that many points though.

As a fellow Arizonan what do you think about Utah -13 over UofA. Saw the game against NAU and the offense didn't impress much. The defense looked okay ... but it is NAU.

ASU at +2.5 looks interesting as well.

still looking over utah/az game. utah looks to be the real deal while az is rebuliding with new coach stoops.tough to tell how good or bad az is with a victory over nau.utah looked good against A&M but not sure A&M could stop a high school team.home field for az used to be one of the strongest in the country but last year teams came in thier and pushed them around.stoops will have them playning with a tougher attitude and they will be more prepared and there is no doubt that this is a statement game for them.I am just not sure if Utah is the team they want to be playing this week as once again they did look very good and they are one of the better teams right now.

ASU/NW is another interesting game as last time asu invaded big ten country which was last year against a good iowa team they were embarassed on national tv 23-3.not that NW is Iowa but they did show grit against TCU and almost won that game in ot.NW is weak on the defensive side of the ball and asu has some injuries on defense. i am expecting a shoot out and have a feeling ASU gets the "W" with a big revenge game on deck aganinst Iowa.

Prophet,

What is your opinion of the ASU defense? Are they improved? Last year, they took a lot of dumb penalties. They looked good aqainst UTEP, but not sure if that means much.

their defense has suffered some injuries and of course were not tested against UTEP. In this game against NW they will be big time tested. as statd above i see a high scoring shoot out.maybe a game in the thirties.

CO + 3 (buy)

Revenge spot here for CO as they lost last year to WAZZOU 47-26.Wash State came back to beat N.Mexico last week with a few big drives but were outgained and did not run the ball well.N.Mexico ran the ball at will on Wazzou.Game is not on the home field of Wazzou but of course it is a home game for them, although it does help that they are not playing in Pullman but rather Seattle.I still think Wazzou is at the bottom of the pac this year.CO gets the W here.

Bottom???? Them is some strong words Prophet.

I don't think they will do squat this season either but I give them a C or C- grade with a few more wins than the bottom suckerers of the Pac-10 of which I see UCLA, Stanford, Washington and an Arizona or 2 keeping them company. Personally, I wouldn't even buy the points here, I'll take the dog straight up on the moneyline.

Iowa State +25

I just think this is way to many points.Iowa State is improved and has a good young QB.I see this being a closer game than most would expect.

Indiana an improved squad with a number of starters back.Oregon with MONSTER game on deck at Oklahoma.Tough place to play and long trip for IU to make but I think they give Ducks togher time than they expect.

Fresno +14 (-130)

I like this team and I like that they have no fear of playing anyone and anywhere.last week at Wash and this week K.State.Amazing the schedule they take on but the program is benefiting from it and getting better.

USC -13.5 (1st half)

I am starting to get the feeling that this game will be ugly and that there is good reason the line is 24.USC with the week off and back at home and CSU off a tough O.T. loss.I will probably pull the trigger on the game line as well but I do think they will have a nice size half time lead.

Proph. I strongly didsagree with your USC first half pick. I tend to do very well with these games. If you want to bet USC in this game wait until half. They may score the first touchdown in the game but will not cover 13.5. I don't expect you to bet CSU in the first but. USC will cover the second half spread. I realize that am selfproclaimed, but I am just trying to help.
