Saskatchewan at Toronto (-2.5, 51.5)
Toronto will look for fast 2-0 start after last season’s debacle. The Argonauts were 4-14 last year, which was their worst season in 13 seasons. QB Kerry Joseph completed less than 50 percent of his passes last week, but it didn’t matter against harmless Hamilton. He’ll have to step up his game against Saskatchewan bunch that can hunt down enemy quarterbacks in a hurry. Toronto is just 6-17 ATS in home games in July games the last dozen seasons.
Saskatchewan had the second best record in the league last year at 12-6 and will try to continue winning ways. Quarterback Darian Durant threw for 313 yards at home in week one, but got a little careless and heaved three interceptions that brought BC back in the game. Hard to find a better play early in the season than the Roughriders, who are 8-1 ATS in the first month of the season.
Toronto is 7-6 and 6-6-1 ATS hosting Saskatchewan and the value play could be on the Roughriders, as the Argos are 2-9 ATS off a conference win.

Wow. I bet Argos -3. Turn on the game and Argos are winning 13-7. Sask scores 30 points in the SECOND QUARTER and leads 37-13. WTF?

Wow, I don't follow the CFL but all the experts were saying play on Toronto. WTF?

It does make sense when you consider they have two teams named Rough Riders, only get 3 downs, wanted to name a team the "Gay Brigade" and have a "single" in which you get one point for taking it up the anal canal, as anyone who had Toronto today did.

TORONTO -- Darian Durant threw three touchdown passes to lead the Saskatchewan Roughriders to a 46-36 win over the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday afternoon.

Saskatchewan (2-0) blew the game open with a 30-point second-quarter outburst to erase a 13-7 deficit. Durant showed little affects of the badly bruised right thumb he sustained last week against B.C., completing 18-of-29 passes for 205 yards and an interception to improve to 6-0 as a CFL starter.

Toronto's Kerry Joseph was 27-of-45 passing for 348 yards with three TDs and an interception.

A quiet Rogers Centre gathering of 30,055 became very vocal with a loud chorus of boos as Toronto (1-1) end its spectacular meltdown, which was aided by 14 first-half penalties for 131 yards. At least the Argos faithful were rewarded with brilliant sunshine once the roof was opened to start the second half.

The loss was Toronto's fourth straight at home to Saskatchewan. The Argos last beat the Riders at Rogers Centre 27-26 in July 2005 and haven't won here since a 19-11 decision over Winnipeg on Aug. 1, 2008, a stretch of seven games.

Toronto outscored Saskatchewan 23-9 in the second half, but that hardly mattered. The Argos finished with five turnovers (interception, three fumbles, blocked punt) after registering none against Hamilton. By comparison, the Riders had two turnovers after recording eight in last week's win over B.C.

Hugh Charles, with two, Andy Fantuz, Weston Dressler and Jerrell Freeman scored Saskatchewan's touchdowns. Luca Congi kicked the converts and three field goals. The other points came on a safety.

Reggie McNeal, Jamal Robertson, Tyler Scott and Mike Bradwell had Toronto's touchdowns. Justin Medlock booted three converts and three field goals.

A 28-point outburst in the final 4:28 of the second gave Saskatchewan a commanding 37-13 half-time lead, thanks in large part to Toronto.

John Chick's fumble recovery put the Riders at the Toronto 30-yard line and a facemask penalty on the home team moved Saskatchewan to the nine-yard line. Charles then hauled in Durant's shovel pass and scampered in at 10:22.

Two more penalties allowed Saskatchewan to kick off from midfield, and Matt Black's bad decision to return the ball put Toronto at its four-yard line. Two plays later, Joseph botched the handoff to Robertson, resulting in Sean Lucas recovering the fumble at the Argos' four-yard line. That set up Charles' two-yard TD run at 12:01.

Durant hit Dressler on a 33-yard touchdown pass at 14:20 before Freeman put an exclamation mark on Saskatchewan's dominance, first blocking Medlock's punt then recovering it in the end zone at 14:50.

Toronto also had a hand in Saskatchewan's first TD, Durant's 22-yard strike to Fantuz at 10:53 of the first, a drive that was aided by roughing the passer and unnecessary roughness calls against the Argos.

That spoiled another strong start by Toronto, which went ahead 10-0 on Joseph's 30-yard TD pass to McNeal at 5:51 and Medlock's 23-yard field goal that was set up by Jason Shivers' blocked field goal. The Argos scored 20 first-quarter points en route to last week's 30-17 win over Hamilton.

Both teams implemented the Wildcat, a formation that uses a direct snap to a halfback instead of the quarterback. Robertson gained the bulk of his 51 first-half yards the result of it. And Saskatchewan used a flanker reverse with Dressler (eight yards) and double reverse with receiver Robb Bagg (six-yard gain).

NOTES -- There was a pre-game video tribute to former Argo Joe (King) Krol, Frank Morris and Grey Cup Garry, with club president Bob Nicolson making an on-field presentation to Peter Krol. Then at halftime, Nicholson made a cheque presentation to Wes Bauer, the son of Winnipeg president Lyle Bauer who is cycling across Canada to raise money for cancer research. Lyle Bauer is a cancer survivor . . . Matt O'Meara started at right tackle for Saskatchewan on Friday after joining the club Monday. O'Meara, 26, of Milton, Ont., was originally drafted third overall by the Riders in '05 before being dealt to Winnipeg. He was released by the Bombers in training camp.
