The SARS virus continues to trundle round the world.
---------------------------------------

A senior government health official in the province of Ontario says more cases are appearing there every day, most of them among hospital workers.

Two Ontario hospitals have been closed down and staff at others have been ordered to wear masks and gloves at all times.

I find it really weird, because it likes healthy people.

The big influenza outbreak at the end of WW one was the same. People that were 18-40 got really wasted.
Theres antibiotics/cleanliness/sterility nowadays that didnt exist in the 20's, so mortality will be lower than in those days, if its the same kind of thing.

Hospital workers usually have a higher immunity, because they work around bugs all the time, and most of them are 18-40 too, so thats not a good sign.

Anyway. We shall see....

If it wasn't for Iraq this would be headline material.

no. Not on china. Don't beg the question.
I'm simply considering whether or not the outbreak of this and its suspicious timing couldn't have been planned.

chemical weapons?
Could this have been a terrorist attack?

Does anyone in this forum do any research or do they just blame TERRORISM for any possible problems?

This is the Asian flu, it's just not politically correct to say it these days. Nothing more nothing less. That's what you get from socialist hell holes, bad water, bad food, unclean living conditions and people stacked on top of each other causes the wide spread of this shit.

SS,
Not true at all. The truth sometimes is a little unsettling to liberals, but the new SARS is nothing more than the Asian flu. Read before you just start with liberal talking points.

people stacked on top of each other causes the wide spread of this shit.

the wide spread is caused by international air travel and it is something quite different from "asian flu".

retarded would be more accurate than ignorant.

the people at WHO and the CDC think this is a NEW virus.

of course they are just a bunch of overeducated doctors that study this stuff day in and out.

Centers for Disease Control

from WHO concerning the travel advisory:

This is the first time in the history of WHO that such travel advice has been issued for specific geographical areas because of an outbreak of an infectious disease.

Since 1958, WHO has issued weekly lists of areas infected with quarantinable diseases so that national authorities can decide whether to apply public health measures to arriving travellers. During the last years of the smallpox eradication campaign cases spread internationally by land. Controls at borders between neighbouring countries were relied on to prevent international spread. No global recommendations were necessary.

The asian flu is a known virus it is called influenza A (H5N1)

the reason there was a fuss over this flu is because the flu vaccine that people took this year would not work against it.

SARS is a VERY SERIOUS ISSUE

if the mortality rate is 1% (it is currently more than double that) about 2.6 million americans will die.

cdc faq page for SARS

the number of people infected:

Monday: 1622
Tuesday: 1804 (increase of 182 people)
Wednesday: 2223 (increase of 419 people)

number of deaths:

Monday: 58
Tuesday: 62 (increase of 4 people)
Wednesday: 78 (increase of 16 people)
