Too bad the 3 threw a shoe while warming up... Rules state that that is an equipment change and horse can only race for PURSE MONEY.

Received a voice message from Joey... late night for me to call him Saturday Morning. So I did.

Joey said he had a very profitable day opening day at The SPA... Had the late Pick 4 ( Using all with top pick with top pick with 8,9 )
First leg, the 3 was racing for Purse Money Only ... and in the last leg the #8 was a late scratch.... 9 was the Favorite, so the #8 was considered in the payoff..... And the late Double ticket was cashed ... and the triple was hit in the last leg.

But you all know that if you were following.

What you do not know is ------

This morning (Saturday 7/19) Joey arrived early at The SPA for day 2 after handicapping Saturday's card all night. Now if you know Joey personally, you know he has medical issues.

He arrived before the anybody apparently and received assistance carrying his cooler into the backyard area...by someone that was working nearby. Joey put tablecloth material on three picnic tables and set the cooler on a table. Then left to get breakfast. When he arrived back to the handicap parking area, he checked out the area he stated out ... everything was gone !!!! . Security asked him what he was doing... he told him.... Security told Joey NOBODY is to be in the backyard until gates open at 7:00AM ... The Security Guard removed the cooler and threw the tablecloths in the trash barrel.

Then he told Joey ... that Joey had to stand in line with all the other people outside the gate until it opened.

No Problem... just a misunderstanding...

Joey waited in line.. gates opened ... then all HELL broke lose. it was like a heard of cattle on a stampede... and Joey was in the middle of the stampede. He was pushed and tripped and fell to the blacktop walkway. AND while there on the ground they were going over him... jumping, stepping over,, whatever it took so those A$$holes could get their tables. And there stood the Security Guard watching all this go down.

A lady do stop and try to help Joey up... but could not. Finally, three gentlemen came by and got Joey to his feet.

Joey is brushed up and has cuts and scraps on his body... He is on blood thinner .. so this is dangerous. I told him to get to the First Aid Station as soon as they open.

Kudos to the Security Guard for "doing his job" and kicking a person with difficulty getting around off the property because he was there a bit earlier than the others. And then NOT to offer assistance to that same person when he gets trampled down.


You are not going to hear or see this on the News or TV.. But it did happen.


Just think... you take your kids to the backyard for breakfast and watch the horses workout.... but you have to go thru a 50 yard dash thru HELL once the gates open,,,,,,,,, THAT IS UNCALLED FOR.


SUGGUESTION: NYRA hope you are reading this.... Put a number on the Picnic tables..... Put that same number on a tab of paper and in a pail, People want to use a picnic table.... Pay the $5 entrance fee ( after you pay a high parking fee) and then pull a tab of paper out of the pail for the number of tables you need. THEN you can WALK to the table number... NOBODY gets hurt.

Joey I hope all is well.

I gave up on getting picnic tables up at the spa. Between the chaos of entering the track in the morning and people not respecting traditions, it's become a shit show. Most of these people are there for excitement and getting drunk, not the ponies.... It's sad.

I tend to stay posted up in the clubhouse most days I attend. A lot easier entering the track at noon.

Dont even know how to respond to that episode, spa employees see a patron struggling walking slowly to setup shop a little early, where is their common sense, non athletic bullies with no brains. Hope all is better now, gremlin thanks for posting.
