Its a game..you have to say what you need to to get further in the game...they were never smart enough to sit down together and compare notes about what Russell was telling them. Russell took a few chances that could have backfired and resulting in him going home, against Boston Rob for instance, but they worked and Rob went home...Sandra and Parvati werent smart enough to figure anything like that and Parvati rode Russell's coattails..Russell shouldnt have given her the idol early on and let her get evicted
Like Boston Rob said, Russell was good at making it to the finals both times, but his lack of being able to form any kind of friendships with any of his tribemates has and will always be his downfall. Every Survivor who has won the game, has at least formed some kind of friendship with another castaway. Russell looks like one of those guys who probably has very few if any close fiends in his personal life. He used people and threw them aside. These people aren't that dumb. They saw right through it. And it all came to a head in the final jury scene. Even Jeri, who said Russell played a great game, changed her mind after what he had to say in the final tribal council. I believe the Survivor show purposely had almost every castaway give us their vote on television before the final just to show that Russell didn't get one vote, and what an asshole he turned out to be. And his arrogancy apparently even rubbed the producers of the show the wrong way. And I bet you he don't get invited back for another reunion show. Face it, the guy is rich in real life and is a little asshole to go with it. Not an appealing combination.
I would have voted for him too. I think Russell put more effort into the game than anybody else. But I think every survivor who has won the game would probably tell you it's more than about just winning challenges and stabbing people in the back. If you don't come off as least halfway likeable among the remaining jurors despite telling a few lies along the way, in the end your not going to win it. I think this is a big reason why so many women have won the game. Most women are more social people who are better at striking up friendships than men are.
He may not be a nice guy in real life, but its just a game...who is Boston Rob to say?? He hasnt won anything either!! He was owned by Russell in that game....I agree, maybe Russell should have at least kept his alliance with Parvati, but even in big brother, they realize game play is important and respect good game play and dont take it so personally. Russell is the best player in Survivor history, the juries werent smart enough to recognize it.
I can see the some saying Russell too harsh to have any respect from the jury.
But I can not see anyone voting for someone that did FUCK ALL throughout the entire show: Sandra. What a joke.
If she is the "survivor" the human race would end quickly cause she proved she could not effectively wipe her own ass.
