I just got down on San Antonio to win the NBA Championship at +400. I didn't go big, but I see value there. What do you guys think?

+400 is a bad number.

I just checked a few books and Canbet has +650 and Olympic +600.

Shop around.

with this much time left in the season, I don't see a whole lot of value on SA at 4-1...even at 6-1 I probably would not take it.

Usually there is little value on the "obvious" teams...

Not a bad price, but yeah you could have gotten a better number and waiting until the playoffs you probably could do better parlaying it, especially if they have to run into the Lakers at some point. From a pure wager standpoint nothing that bad about it. I figure they probably only will be challenged by LA and Sac, I think the Wolves will still have their troubles so 4-1 when you are in a 3-horse race isn't that bad. Only thing is now Horry will get to shoot 20% for them in the playoffs instead of ruining the Lakers chances

Bill, maybe I'm crazy, but I think Minnesota's additions make them dangerous(despite never escaping 1st rnd), and Dallas now has the depth to hack Shaq, or challenge Sac & SA in a sprint.

It's still early, but until LA and SA show the ability to ramp-up hard or hit the switch this year, I'd respect those two.

The Spurs have yet to win a game against an elite team in the west, they currently are 0-7 against the Mavs, Kings, and Lakers.

Plus, spurs won't have home court in the western conference championship this year.

Spurs at +400 = NO VALUE

9-1??? That is a value. It is a little early to say who will or won't have homecourt in the playoffs. I don't think Minnesota will be that much better because they got a lot of contributions from Hudson last year at guard and it wasn't enough. To make things worse they gave up their serviceable center and have no one to defend any of the big-time power forwards in the West. They did a good job making themselves worthy of contention, but the Wolves need to make a big trade to make me convinced they will do more than maybe win their first series. Dallas is a joke, they won't do anything with that lineup unless they go unconscious for 7 games. Spurs are just cruising, when you are comfortable with your squad and have championship experience you just jockey for position. Look at the Lakers, totally just sitting there knowing it means nothing until postseason. The Kings and the Wolves have something they need to prove and are trying hard for homecourt to give them the edge, but until they prove they can get it done no one will give them credit for anything.

Truth be told I just get the feeling that the Kings will get it done this year, they continue to get better on defense and have learned to use different players to win while CWebb is out. Miller is the man they need to guard Duncan and Shaq, drawing them out of the post with his decent jumper. Vlade is icing on the cake. But at the 5/2 and 3/1 I see on them, still not enough value to pull the trigger.
