Sammy Baugh Dead...

In my opinon, from what I have read, was one of the top ten QB's that ever played the game...He passed away today at the age of 94.....

Funny how we have walking legends on this earth who you hear nothing about until they pass..I thought Slingin Sammy died years ago..RIP

He lived a quite life on his small ranch outside of Sweetwater Texas.

I played golf with his son, David, once when he was playing football for Texas Tech.

Baugh popularized the possession passing game and helped bring pro football into the passing age. He won 6 passing titles and won 3 of them from a single wing tailback before switching to the T formation in 1944....

He completed 1709-3016 passes for 22,085 yards and 187 TD's...twice he passed for 6 touchdowns in a game...he also threw 203 interceptions and his mechanics would have horrified a modern day QB coach...

Baugh also played some defense...in 1943 he led the league in passing with 1754, punting with a 45.9 average, and interceptions on defense with 11...

i was just watching the NFL netowrk they were showing some images if his games he sure knew how to play the pass game a pioneer as the guy said, also retired as the punter with the best punting average RIP
