Throwing the stats out of the window here. I could care less about Guthrie, his ERA or how he's fared against the Yankees. This is strictly a feel play on what I think is a good situation. Pavano gets his first start after being out for over a year. Instead of being on the disabled list he should have been in the state prison for stealing all that money from the Yankees. This clown has had a 40 million dollar contract hanging over his head for a couple years now and all he's given back is 19 pathetic starts.
Now, not only does he have a chance to get some redemption(although very little) what a huge chance to come back to the majors and get a huge win and hopefully give these fucking bums from New York a final push for the playoffs that will ultimately end in failure. But that's not the point. The point is this is a huge EMOTIONAL game for Pavano and New York.
"No question, if he pitches well and we win, it's a great story for everyone," Yankees captain Derek Jeter said. "That's the situation we're in right now. We need to find ways to win."
New York Yankees +133
I also took a bite off the reverse runline at +175
