All the effort put in by the Pirates and Marlins in the Manny dealings may have been just what the doctor ordered to keep Jason Bay from becoming a member of the Rays, a player that would have vastly improved their team.
As is, the Yanks and Red Sox still have a fighting chance at catching the best team in the division.
The Yanks should send Theo and Manny a thank you card, unfortunately for them, they have no idea what is actually happening, as they have been a recipient of this "bluffing" by the Red Sox in recent years themselves and didn't even realize it.
