Yes they can. The fact that they've lost the first two games against Cincy doesn't give them any more of a chance tomorrow. Bailey is a stud pitcher and can go off for a huge game tomorrow without it being a surprise. He's still young though so he could easily get rocked as well.
Sabathia was absolutely terrible in his first start, so not sure I'd bet him tomorrow unless the juice is low, which I doubt it is.
Sabathia was terrible in his first start but he somehow came out of his six innings showing only two earned runs allowed. When you walk five and give up a hit an inning that is not a good outing. As someone mentioned he was bailed out by a line drive turning into a double play with the bases loaded and nobody out in a one run game. I was reading the preview of tomorrow's Reds/Milwaukee game and they said Sabathia's first start was outstanding or something to that effect. Hardly outstanding. I think Milwaukee will regret to have ever made this trade. He will not lead them to the world series. They have mortgaged their future for a half season. Not a good idea.
As someone else posted, the Milwaukee bullpen is terrible. Absolutely terrible. Why didn't Milwaukee go after bullpen help instead of another starter. Honestly, their starting pitching hasn't been that bad and they have an ace in Ben Sheets. But in this day and age of bullpen specialization and shorter outings from starters you have to have a solid bullpen. Laying 200+ with a bullpen as lousy as Milwaukee is risky to say the least.
CC Sabathia's strikeout of Dustin Pedroia in the 6th inning was the 1,015th of his Yankee career, passingRoger Clemens for 11th place on the Yankees all-time list. |
