For meat I'd suggest "La Parrillada del Che" in Escazu...pretty decent

Jake, good list. You told me before that the K & G Brewery doesn't have good food so I've stayed away so far. I definitely want to try some Mexican & Indian food, so that's on my list of things to do this week. No eating too late though, right?

Jake,

Great list you got going there. If you dont mind I would add some.

Chinese:
Lotus, near the Paco center off the old road to Santa Ana. Great food, not too expensive, and if you are with somebody who speaks Chinese, their Menu written in Chinese has the more authentic dishes. The regular menu is great also.

Restaurante Estrella, near Pali on Pavas road down from the US Embassy. On the corner where the farmers market is on Sundays. Little hole in the wall, but great Chinese food at great prices.

Don Wang, next door to Tin Jo downtown. Two words: DIM SUM.....yum.

lebanese:
Lubnan, off Paseo Colon. Went there a couple weeks ago with my lady and had great food. Prices were reasonable too.

That Italian place in Plaza Itskazu (cant remember the name of it) has what I've been looking for the 8+ years I've been offshore. That's Cannoli. I love Cannoli, and they have it. Mind you its not like Grandma used to make, but its better than no Cannoli at all.

hope this helps.

I can't believe I forgot Tin Jo!! Bad of me.

I am checking to see if I can update the list...but there are some editing restrictions in this forum. If not, I will just repost the updated list.

Truthteller,

My lady and I each had a cucumber salad with tuna and salmon. Then we both split a spicy tuna roll, and a rainbow roll. We also had green tea. total came to about 7800 colones.

Not too bad.

I've recently heard about a new Thai place near Sabana called Bangkok. Its supposed to be by that College for Medicine near Pops.

Planning on trying it soon. Will let you know what I think.

Thanks egg. I think it will run me a little bit more than 7800. I tend to order 4 or 5 things when I eat Sushi

My buddy that worked at Taj Mahal left and is now at Bangkok. They just opened a few days ago. Will try it out next week.

Truth,

If I was in an area that had GREAT sushi I would be ordering a ton of items also. However, Costa Rica is far from having GREAT sushi. Sakura is the best here, and they only have a small selection with higher prices than you would pay for in anywhere else in the world, except maybe Japan.

Another place that I recommend is Judge Wapner's Bed and Breakfast Log Cabin in the hills of Escazu...it is open only one night a year, December 31rst, with great food, friends, and fireworks, not too mention open bar...I was invited last year, but I am on the waiting list this year...great hospitality and ambiance....P.S. bring a jacket, it will be fuking cold!!!
