Monitors - The "Search Articles" function of this website does not work well, if at all.

I emailed the Shrink about this a few times last year, with no response.

I posted about this a few months ago, when I was seeking a specific recent article (forget the title of the 3 part series now - it was about making the opening line, and the part I sought involved Bert Osborne and the Coast casinos line) It was impossible to access this using the "Search Articles" feature of this website. And I had the exact title of the series of articles at that time, as the final part was posted at that time. But the "Search Articles" wasn't able to bring up the 1st part of the series, from a few weeks earlier.
No one from the website bothered to respond to my post seeking help.

How about it? Is there a secret to getting a simple search for an article? Is there an archiving failure on the part of the website? Is anyone who works for this site willing to help out?

Would appreciate a response from management.

(Incidentally, I'm posting in this manner rather than emailing, as the only contact email given on the website is to the Shrink.
Is he still involved in day to day operations here? Thought he'd sold the website? Either way, he was no help in the past.
How about putting up on the website an email address of someone in management willing to respond to requests for help?).

A welcome change from my previous attempts for help from this forum, as noted in my post above.

As noted above, it was a 3 part series called "The making of the opening line" or something like that. It was posted on the homepage as an article - it was not a post.
It was probably by Stephen Nover.

The first part, which I couldn't locate, was about or at least included, Bert Osborne and the opening line at Coast casinos.
As noted above, I did have the exact name of the article when I first tried to locate it (in 2003), and the name of the author, but the "Search Articles" function was not capable of locating this article when it was only 3 or 4 weeks old.

Beyond this specific request - why doesn't the "Search Articles" service work on this website?
I've tried to use it in the past with similar lack of success.

I am only guessing here, but I think that the older articles are off the board at some point. Most likely retrievable by the editor, whom I will notify of this post.

General - As I mentioned in both of my posts above, the article I was searching for last year was only 3 - 4 weeks old at that time.

Also - who or what is "the editor"? What function does "the editor" perform on this website?

PeeWee has got a point, it is near impossible to find old articles. Despite some not thinking much of some of the articles, it makes sense for the RX to set up permanent pages for these articles. The smart thing would be to put HTML titles that match the content. With the RXs success in google, they could be doing much better if they had all of the articles up as well. Would drive a ton of traffic.

PeeWee - Charlie Maxwell is in charge of the Editorial staff. The staff includes Wild Bill, Fezzik, and at times Shrink. Stephen Nover has recently moved to another web-site (Covers). As far as the search engine goes, it looks like you are right, it is essentially worthless. Can or will it be fixed or replaced is anyones guess. The General is aware, and I know is trying to locate the article you have mentioned. I know this does'nt help much, but it is the situation regarding the editorial search engine as far as I can tell. I am also trying to reach Charlie Maxwell, and get him involved, but he is off-line right now.

Journeyman - Pee Wee is looking for an old editorial piece, not a forum thread. This thread is basically about how well or more aptly how poorly the search engine on the home page functions when old articles are searched for.

Pee Wee, our Webmasters set the archives section up and need specific info in order to find the article. They would need the date and author.

After a certain amount of time, all articles are dropped because we don't have that kind of space and don't want to slow the site down any more than it is.

If that is the case, why have a search engine for articles?

If you keep them for at least 3 to 4 weeks, then please read my posts above, as well as the posts of others.

You provide a search engine for articles, and, as noted succinctly by wilheim, it is worthless.
How about making it worthwhile instead?
