i don't know what we are looking for in a place.
if someplace nice to meet (where the scenery will be amazing) hard to top "the palms" or "hard (r)cock hotel"
if looking somepplace central - hard to beat stardust right in the middle of the strip - with riviera ac**** the street and circus/circus next door (for those coming with kids). i also sense room rates won't be one where you have to bend over and take it up the....

With all respect to Winky, if one were looking for walkaround convenience and not setting one's heights above Stardust, Riveria or Circus/Circus, why even look at the strip.
Plenty of decent joints downtown with reasonable rates and real hospitality. Don't know about the rest of you but I like to feel appreciated while I am losing my 2-3k that I invariably drop while in Vegas.
When I get out on the strip and into the fancy newer casinos I am like a duck out of water. It is not at all dificult to tell that my action is unappreciated. All one has to do is look at the table minimums on Friday or Saturday night in those joints.
If the party is at Bellagio or one of the other high dollar strip propertys I will still attend but I see no reason for Ken et al to spend huge bucks for the party that are really unnecessary.
If the strip is so Godalmighty essential, we ought to take a look at Greendoberman's Imperial Palace.
As good a card room as there is in Vegas and hard to top the cocktail server talent. Add to that some Las Vegas tradition, great location and hospitality galore.
I hope this is my last post on this subject as I sense I am for some reason in the vast minority.
