Where's the excitement among Midwest fans? Many Big 10 faithful are not happy with Rutgers and Maryland now playing CFB in their conference...just two more bottom feeders they have to pay to watch. Many Maryland old timers resent the Terps leaving the ACC that it helped form 60 years ago...especially the popularity of ACC basketball. Rutgers needs money so no big deal for their fan base. The two schools went a combined 13-13 last season. Maryland last finished in the AP Top 10 back in 1976; Rutgers never has.

It's all about cable subscriber fees and opening up new recruiting territory that counters a sluggish population growth in the Midwest that threatens the Big Ten talent pipeline. Most knowledgeable football fans know Maryland and Rutgers is not a good fit for this conference. Kinda like the Big 12 taking in West Virginia...makes little sense other than a new market.

Times they are a changing...............welcome your comments!

Meh , i dunno. I certainly dont expect Rutgers or Maryland to pull a Missouri within their first 2 years , but its probably not fair for big-10 fans to call them bottom feeders. ....They should be competative with 50% of the league.

I'm guessing thats fans from 3 or 4 schools that feel that way.

I have a relative who lives in Detroit (God help him) and buys season tickets to Michigan's home games. I talked with him about two weeks ago and he was bitching about Michigan's home schedule...especially Big Ten games. Here's what he has to look forward to this season.

Appalachian State.... Miami, Ohio.... Utah.... MINNESOTA.... PENN STATE.... INDIANA.... MARYLAND

Yeah, Wolverine fans should get excited looking at that schedule. Season tickets should be 50 percent off with those dog games.

I think this is a horrible idea, Maryland is in the heart of the ACC, granted they are more of a basketball school imo. What I find ironic is that the BIG 10 which always boasts how great they are at the academic level are taking schools like this who compared to other schools in their region (Virginia and North Carolina) are not known as strong academic institutions. Looks like they are selling out to me.

I look for mary to have a big drop in football...they will never win in the east division....they will battle with rutgers for last place every year...

Stupid move for Maryland. They did it for one reason: money. It makes no sense for them to play in the B10. They lost out on a bunch of rivalries and killed their recruiting base south of Northern VA.
